New red light recommendation

I’m looking for a new scanning (red) light. I can’t get my hands on any of them to test out. Looking at the Foxpro gunfire, wicked 403ic, and sniperhog lights. Which of them is the brightest? The Foxpro gunfire is currently on sale for $110, so if they’re comparable I’d like to save the coin. But it’s also a single 18650 so I’m not sure how bright it can possibly be.

I currently have an Orion M30c , and its gotten me by the last few years. I plan to mount that to my shotgun and scan with a more powerful light.

I can only shotgun hunt at night, and no thermals allowed in my state.

If you can get the Gun Fire for $110.00 I would probably choose that one. The Gun Fire has 3 color modules and that is very handy, particularly that white light for recovery and as a general use flashlight.
I would definitely get the optional handle for handheld use.
FoxPro has very good customer service so I would suspect that they will stand by it if you ever have a problem.

As far as a single 18650 battery goes, the only advantage that more batteries would give you would be to increase your run time, not the brightness. I'm not aware of any light that uses more than 1 battery except the old Coyote Light and you would not want to hand hold that heavy light up for very long at a time.
Being restricted to shotgun only you don't need a big heavy clunky light that will throw a beam a mile.
I have not used lights in a long time, there might be other options out there but for what you get for the money I am not aware of a better value than the Gun Fire.

I prefer Wicked Lights

I have 3 sets of gun/hand held Wicked lights Predator Pursuit Packs...I preferred a hand held scan over head light, and a single 18650 is plenty...

You generally don’t need “the brightest light” for a scanning light. I have the Wicked 403 and the coyote light for a shooting like and use a Odepro KL41 and XLR 250 for scanning lights.

The coyote light is the best kill light in my opinion due to the rheostat and brightness, and the Odepro is a little brighter than the 250 for scanning.

So I ended up going with a Foxpro gunfire (r/w/ir). Got it for $86 (light/battery/charger only, not the full kit. Honestly a little disappointed with it. In comparison to my china-made Orion m30c, it definitely doesn’t have the lumen output . What it does have is the ability to dial the beam and the throw is incredibly far, but very very tight. The m30c has a much more usable and powerful beam at 300yds and in.

I think the Foxpro gunfire would make a great kill light on a rifle, and the m30c a better scanner.

I’m in nj, and we can’t use thermals or rifles at night (shotgun/red light only), so at the distances I hunt, both lights are fine. But I was surprised in the performance between a big name and chi-com flashlight.
