New Savage Axis Pro II

Anyone have one? I been eyeballing them a while. Today I looked at them again. (Got bored at home.) It feels like the stock, still tupperware, is a little stiffer than the old model. They have a spiral fluted barrel and threaded, both a plus. And I worked the bolt, on several rifles on the floor, and the bolts are smooth, very smooth!! But they still have a cheezy plastic trigger guard. I'd be willing to pay a bit more if they puts some metal there. Of course they have the Accu-trigger. I'm just curious as to the accuracy. I know its a Savage so accuracy should be pretty good. So, do any of you have one of the new models to give a review on how they shoot?

It's been several months since I last handled one.
I want to say the the throw is the same. I do know the handle was lengthened and bolt knob redone. Pretty sure if they had gotten in line with the Ruger America in the throw It would have left a impression. Which the lift was better with the longer bolt handle in the II Pro, than the regular Axis.

I bought my lefty son the .308 in left hand. They are the same bolt throw. Stock is way stiffer than that of the old model although it’s not high dollar by any means. His is not a fluted barrel but a heavier profile and threaded. Bolt lift is definitely stiff and a little tough for a 12 year old. Overall a much nicer version than that of the old model and his is definitely a shooter. Shot both the 150 and 168 Gold Dots really well with very little load work up.

The store has a 25-06 that I'd like to have but I keep telling myself that I don't need it. So far I've been able to hold off buying it. I have more rifles than I know what to do with now. LOL, like that matters.

The 12FVs are awesome. Crazy accurate. More than anyone would believe. Lol. I got them for around $220 a piece after store sale and factory rebate. I bought 1 in 22-250, 1 in 204 Ruger, and 2 in 6.5 Creedmoor. Just bought one of the Creedmoors for a donor action.
