how long to call
best time to hunt

things i know
very careful of wind. they will most likely come with wind in their face.

if you havent called one up in 25-30 mins move to a new location.

i live in north alabama and will mostly hunt open corn/soybean/cotton fields. i do have about 350 acres of woods to hunt. we deer hunt these woods and have shooting house that i can hunt out of.

Welcome to PM king cotton & Big cat. I dont have much to offer as far as reading goes but there is a person here and his name is Tony Tebbe. He has a great DVD that is highly recommended. That is the first place you should start. As far as my experience goes, I find that there are different calls for different parts of the year and parts of the country. When its mating season, many coyote vocals work well. After they drop their pups, pup in distrtess works well. They are always looking for an easy meal so I use jack rabbit in distress or cotton tail in distress. If its calving season, calf in distress....and so on. Experince is the best teacher so go out and get your hunt on.

I find pup in distress works anytime and I almost never end a stand without it whether I've been using other distress sounds or Coy vocals. It's a killer!

Welcome to Predator Masters guys. At least you found the right site to help get you started on predator calling. There is alot of information that can be gleamed in the years of posts on here.

I came out with a DVD called "So You Want To Be A Predator Caller?" a couple of years ago, for guys just getting into the sport, like yourselves. I think it could really help give you a solid foundation on the fundamentals of predator calling. It'd save you a ton of questions and years on your own.

Let me know if I can be any help.

Wonder what ever happened to hoover. Mighta got to smelling to much like bacon and the coyotes ate him? Be very careful when using the bacon trick!!

Oh yeah, there's also the rotten egg trick. Should work especially good this time of year. The details are in the 10th post down in this thread. http://www.predatormastersforums.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1762338

As far as a close 2nd to this forum...well, not really. This forum has/had always been known for helping out new guys into the sport. You'd never tell it from this thread, though.
