New X bolt by Browning

I was looking at one the other day. The trigger is absolutely amazing. I love the mag. too, it pops right out and right back in. Same 60* bolt lift, but the action is a different design. The bolt handle was the same too. I really liked it a lot. The black synthetic was 720 bucks, while a stainless/wood a-bolt was 719. If I were to go get me an elk rifle right now, that's what I'd get!

Utah, I forgot if the ad mentioned anything on the trigger. Is it different? I wonder if and how the x bolt is improved over the a bolt? I never had a problem, just curious on what things are like. What is the difference on the magazine, from the a bolt one? Thanks, T.20

Tac, I have not shot one... but I have sold two of them. Both have been given great range results for their new owners. The new feature with the X-bolt is you can throw the bolt with the gun on safety now. There is a small button on top of the bolt handle (where it attaches to the bolt) that you push in and it allows you to open the bolt. The mag is now almost all polymer... it is a real sleek looking mag as well. No more drop plate with a mag stuck on it. The X-bolt overall is a great update on the A-bolt... it has some great new lines (more rounded and sleeker) to it and it really feels good in the hands. Some might think that the one downfall is that you need Browning rings for these guns. The new rings are kind of cool because they do not have bases. The ring and the base are one unit. They also let you get the scope closer to the bore then the typical base and ring set up. The rings will run you about $60 and the X-bolts are priced identical to the A-bolts. Hope this helps... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Ahhh... edit to add what I wanted to say the first time! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif
The triggers are GREAT... no creep and VERY crisp. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Wow, those are the things I thought the Browning needed. I wasn't thrilled to have to remove the bolt with the safety off. The new magazine sounds like it would be better, too. The drop plate held it in securely, but took longer to load if you were in a hurry and didn't get it on right.
My trigger seems to shoot good, but then I never tried an aftermarket one.
Sounds like it will be the next Tactical.20 for me!T.20
