Night Force Optics for coyotes?

I sure somewhere this topic has been discussed, but if it hasn't lets hear what your opinions are.....

I have been thinking of putting a Night Force 5.5-22x56mm Zero stop on one of my favourite varmint rigs.
The part that is holding me back is the dollar figure that will be on a rig I'm really not to nice with. Not saying that i am hard on equipment, i am just saying that I'm clumsy.

Kind of like stubbing your little toe.... You don't want to or mean to, but it happens.

What is your honest opinion, Do you have a NSX on your varmint rig?

Pro's and con's?

50mm or 56mm?

I have looked through a few and i'm afraid that once i run one on a varmint rig i will be converting over my Leupolds to Night Force's.

It is absolutely the toughest scope you can buy. It anything can handle clumsy it is a Night Force. You will not regret owning or using it. If I could afford it I would use NF on all my rifles. The glass is super clear, the turrets are consistent and accurate, and the scope is built like a tank. The only thing wrong with a Night Force is once you own one, you will find "one" isn't enough.

Just be nicer to it...

Whether it's a $1000 Leupold or a $1800 NXS, both have great customer service and warranty, but frankly, damaging either of them isn't a very good day.

The 5.5-22x56 is a fantastic long range coyote rig topper. Wish I had a different reticle in mine, but I bought it for targets, so I have what I have.

Well I have one on my Custom Built 300 win mag I use for long range shooting and It is my best scope. Mine has the R1 recticle which gives you lots of options for fast on the fly shooting solutions. I have to agree once you own one, one is not enough. I just bought a savage M10 predator in 243 and am considering putting another one on it for wolf hunting. The glass they use is some of the best and it really shines in low light. Being a hunting guide I have gotten to look through a lot of high end optics and it is right there with the top stuff. You won't be disappointed with it, I remember when I first got mine mounted on my gun and looked through it on the range and went WOW now that is a scope. LOL.

I've had a Nightforce on my coyote bolt rifle for 4 years now and love it. The lighted reticle comes in handy for those areas where night hunting is allowed. I opted for the 50mm so I could keep the scope as close to the barrel as possible. Since I mostly hunt alone, I carry this rifle and my shotgun in a snipers bag which protects both rigs while I'm out in the field.

I just put a 2.5-10x32 NF scope on my 6.5 Grendel. NF are built tough, you won't damage it with normal use. I have 3 of them now, and they are built to last. I have 2 3.5-15 scopes. 1 50mm, one 56mm.

They are worth the extra money

My Grendels scope is a mildot, the others are NP1-RR reticles.
The circles are 9", there is a 18" bracket as well, 3.4.5.6.7.800 yd increments

whatever your familiar with... minutes or mils... personally on my dog guns, I run the NP-R1, with my 22-250 I hold 4 min @ 400, 3@300, 2@200... high speed low drag, and its effective.

NPR1 is what I use on my nxs scopes as well. I have 3 of them.

During one of the episodes of Furtakers they went to the NF factory and showed them building and testing the scopes. Pretty cool and they basically beat the scope before it ships. They are awesome and just last week I took a hog in Tx 35 minutes after sunset with the illuminated reticle and it was awesome!!!

I like the NP-2DD.

I'm hearing rumors of Nightforce unveiling a new scope at the Shot Show that will have a 42 or 43 mm objective. Supposedly the scope will be sized a bit more appropriately for a carry around style rifle. Anyone know any details of this scope?

Selling some of my other optics and picking up a few odds and end jobs to get a new NF with the MOAR reticle. I had a NF in the early 2000's that was superb. Kicking myself the last ten years for getting rid of it. To me they are worth it. They are made to last.

Here's to 'em. This 3.5-15/NP-R1 is on a Savage Super Striker 22-250/8T McGowen/80 A-Max at 2750. Actually haven't kilt any dogs with it yet as i usually let my buddies shoot [gettin' older now and don't really care if i get the shot as long as somebody does]. Gonna purchase a 2.5-10 with Velocity reticle someday soon i hope--

I've got one on my yote rifle and like it a lot, I went with the G7 5-22x50 it has a capped windage turret, BDC reticle, and a BDC load specific turret. Def recommend the 50mm no need for 56mm the scopes are huge and heavy compared to leupold, very robust and bomb proof scope though.
