Night hunting scope

I have a Leupold 2-7 VX-1 shotgun/muzzleloader scope on my 223., I bought a Leupold VX-1 4-12 to replace it and didnt like it . The field of view was way to small . So I put the 2-7 back on , great for night time hunting .

+1 on the 2-7

Guy's, Make sure if you use one of these or any scope with a ARD(Anti Reflection Decice) on the objective that you remove the ARD durring night time use.. You will be amazed at the difference..

i'm looking for something with a little more zoom than 3-9x. Something more for shooting foxes on a pitch black night with a kill light 250 at 100 plus yards. Any advice would be appreciated.

What caliber are you shooting?

You need more than 9x at 100+ yards? Have you seen an optomestrist lately?

I use a Swarovski AV 4-12x50. You would be best served by using the lowest magnification that you can, as it allows more light in your scope.

I shoot .243 and .223. Generally i have no problems with 3-9 but on occasion it is hard to make that quick shot on a small bodied fox at extended ranges with only the kill light.

Swarovski 2.5-15x56 - Swarovski Z6

I know its expensive but it has great field of view and i can zoom all the way with a pvs14.

trijicon mild dot are great too, but not with NV.

Yea the pvs definitey isnt in the budget for the seekins build i'm asking all this for, however the scope may be. I do have a friend though who is looking to swap his nv scope, not sure which model but its gen 3, for something with more range. How far can u confidently shoot with that set-up?

I use a 3/9/40 nikon and i leave it set on 3 power you cant postivley id anything with a kill light much farther than 200 yards and a 3/9 should be enough for anybody. Im shooting a 243 and never had a problem. A guy i work with has a high powered scope and never could find the coyote last sat. Night in it. Lower the piwer the better at night just my opinion.

I just mounted one of the weaver classic extremes from Natchez. 2.5-10x50, G4, single red dot, with side parallax 50-500+ and single set turrets. Very nice scope for the money and its nice and compact. I would buy another one no question
