Night time setup

Was just curious which you all prefer, sitting or standing when calling at night? Also what shooting sticks do you all use? If sitting what chair do you like?

Personally I have been going back and forth between the polecat bipod standing shooting sticks and a single monopod there's advantages to both I do prefer standing rather than sitting

I stand on occasion but 95% of the time I sit while calling coyotes. I am typically colder when standing, am not quite as steady and feel more visible. Standing for long periods of time is hard on the legs and back as well. The one advantage is truly being able to swing 360 degrees if necessary. If I had more vegetation to shoot over, I would probably stand more than I do.

I use a Night Stalker tripod so I have the option of sitting, kneeling or standing depending on the terrain. It even goes prone but as I have gotten older, my back won't allow me to hunt from a prone position for very long. As far as a chair, I have used a lot of different ones. My favorite is the simple Beard Buster EZ Chair. I have ones that get me off the ground too, but this is the lightest chair and still fairly comfortable. It is so good, I bought a second so when the first wears out, I have a replacement.

Ditto with what Kirsch said. I will also add that the night stalker tripod also can be used as a monopod as one of the tripod legs can be removed to use as such. As far as a chair goes - I mostly use the traditional plastic milk crate.

I prefer to stand using a slick tripod. Even though I try to hunt fairly flat terrain I find that standing allows me to see better and I can quickly shoot behind me as I have found a coyote can come in from any direction and quite fast. Occasionally I sit down when it is brighter out and then I just use a fold up blind seat. Sitting does add the advantage of a steadier shot. I would recommend a tripod though as it offers the ability for you not to have to hold the gun and frees up your hands.

I cant imagine shooting standing without a tripod. We stand almost always. Ive never even seen a coyote using lights and we killed 50 this season using thermal. My tip is to atleast get some digital night vision like a photon.

I recently broke my trusty old tripod swivel stool and found a$12 swivel 5 gallon bucket lid from academy works for sitting. In Jan. I won a SLIK Pro 700DX and a Hog Saddle I believe is the clamp in a tournament that I have fallen in love with. I was about to buy the Night Stalker tripod which looks really good

My knees are still holding up so I kneel and use knee pads. Quick set up and easy to maneuver using a homemade set of shooting sticks.

Night time = standing with a very sturdy tripod. Coyotes are less weary and will run right past you if your scent is right and make no noise. Plus it’s hard to swing into position when you’re in the ground.

I always stand so that it is easy to scan and shoot in all directions. I use a Caldwell deadshot magnum field pod. It is a little heavy and cumbersome because of its size but I am convinced there is not a more stable platform out there. Almost as stable as shooting of a bench.
