Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14x40

I just put a Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14x40 with warne rings on my rem 700. The clarity is great but, the ajustable objective seems not to function correctly. The parallax doesn't change when I turn the dial. So, if I focus my eye on the target, the crosshairs fade away. If I concentrate on the crosshairs the target blurrs out. Has anybody else had this problem? I just thought I would ask before I called Nikon. Any imput would be great.

Does it have an adjustable eye piece on it? If it does, you might try and adjust it while on target to see if it comes in. My simmons was the same way until I adjusted the eye piece to where the cross hairs were clear. I figured out one thing though, I will never buy another AO scope.

Good luck with it.

I've turned the eye piece until the crosshairs are clear, looked at the target until they faded and tried to adjust the eyepiece again and could not get them clear... I guess I should have stuck with my leupolds.....

I have the Monarch, two of them, in fact.

With correct sight picture, you should be focusing on the target, not the cross hairs. If I look at the cross hairs, mine go totally blurry. Sometimes though, if my eyes wonder around or I am adjusting for a shot, they will be a little blurry, then clear right up when I get my sight picture and the target.

So, set up, look at the target, and make sure you're not looking at the cross hairs, then adjust. I adjusted mine and I have yet to have to mess with them again for focusing. It seems to be good from 25-150 yards.

AO scopes can really be a pain, can't they?

i have a vari-x 3, i like it, and it's clear, but i don't usualy have the time to deal with adjusting the objective lens. even though i'm keeping the one i have, i'll be staying away from them for future purchases.

You can always set the parallax @ 100 yds and never touch it. Then you'll have the exact scope as a non-AO. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The reason you can see the target and not the crosshairs at the same time is because you have Parallax - real badd!

Go here for an in depth look at parallax, and how to adjust a scope's eyepiece and AO.
