M-223 works good on my sons RRA 20" Coyote. He has not had any complaints, except he has one of the early models where the turrets will turn when taking the gun in or out of the case. Later models seam to have solved this issue. The M-223 will run more $$$$, I have NO experience with the P-223 so I can offer no opionion.

Case, I have literally put 1000's of round's under all the scope's in Nikon's M and P Series. A lot depends on how far you are going to shoot. 6 months ago I started using the P-223 3X Carbine scope on my competition AR, my son borrowed to combo and immeditately claimed the 3X for his rifle! This scope has excellent field of view, clear and easy to pick up target's quickly. I had a M-223 3-12 Rapid Action Turret on my coyote rifle for quite a long time and swapped out a M-223 4-16 BDC 600 scope. Love it. Excellent clarity through all power setting's and the BDC reticle and Spot On have allowed me to ping 10 inch steel plates at 500 yards with not much effort at all. I offered my M-223 3-12 to my son but he wanted to keep the P-223 3-9 BDC 600 on his hog/pig rifle. Very good clarity and excellent light gathering capabilities for early morning and late evening shooting. I also like using the M-223 XR AR Mount. It has 20 moa built into the base for long range shooting. The compact P-223 3X requires a 2 piece AR mount for proper attachment. Here's a pic of my son sighting in his Nikon P-223 3-9 BDC 600 scope. 3 around the center then 5 in the middle. Not bad for a 13 year old.

I have the M223 3-12 x 42 with a PEPR mount...close range/backup is Vortex Razor on Vortex 45 mount. Good glass for the money and I do like the scope. There is no zero stop on the turrets and they turn easily when carrying in the field. Missed three dogs in a row before I figured out I was a full turn out on elevation. Fixed it with Gorrilla tape as when you need a long shot elevation change you pull the tape or force the turret. You must check that you are zeroed before every set. Great scope for the bench or window work but not so great in the field.

A Vortex Viper PST or standard Viper with custom turrets and zero stop is in my future.

Have a M-223 3X12 BDC side focus on a newer RRA R3 that I'm just braking in for hunting ( bought from SWFA with their mount ). Was just wondering about the P-223 for another AR ( R-15 with a black hole barrel ). A little less expesive so wondering how they compare of if I'ld be giving up much by going to the P-223.

I have p-223 4-12x40 with the BDC 600 and I'm fixing to order another one. If that tells you anything. Great glass for a awesome price.

I have the M-223 scope 4x16x42 and 600 BDC. I like it a lot. The turrents are steady and it holds it's zero well when taken off and put back on several times. It's secured in a Rock River Arms one piece rings/1" riser device.

I have the m223 3-12x42 on an AR. I like it, the glass is on par with my zeiss and leupolds. I will say that the exposed turrets are kind of a pain, and will get moved so you must check them often. I would advise really thinking on whether you need them or not, and if not look at the monarch. It's the same scope without the turrets basically I believe.

Just picked up the P223 yesterday to put on my RRA LAR-15. Yet to zero it. I'm a little concerned about the open turrets but I think it'll be fine for what I do.
