Nikon scopes off of e-bay

I thought I read on a sight, but can't find it, that there were some Nikon fake scopes being sold on e-bay and other places. Anybody heard anything like that? I found what looks like the real thing on e-bay but man it's cheap. The sellers name is "knifestore". His feedback is awesome but his price is about $100.00 cheaper than anyone else for a new scope. I am honestly not real "e-bay savvy" so I'm looking for some advice.

I certainly don't want to start mass panic. It may have been Leupold that I was thinking of. I would think that Nikon would also have a consumer warning if it was common.

In any event, I don't do business with Ebay/Paypal anymore since my account was hijacked and used in Australia and they would do nothing except cancel the account. Also I am not in favor of the restrictions they impose regarding items related to Firearms/Guns/Etc.

If the guy is not asking you to communicate through a different e-mail address (other than his e-bay e-mail)than you probably are ok. But I try and buy my items from Sponsors on sites I belong to....To try and keep it all in the Family.

I have bought 5 scopes from the "Knifestore". They are the real deal. I have called and talked to them directly and given them my info over the phone. Mailed right out. I have been very happy with them. And yes they are cheaper. A lot cheaper. I agree with kec about ebay/paypal. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif Why any gun owner would deal with either company is beyond me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif I deal with companies that support our sport.
 
I alerted Leupold about counterfeit scopes on ebay about a year or so ago....They sent me a nice reply and said they would be looking into it....I also sent them a link to the scopes....It was not long before they did not appear on ebay any longer.....
 
I just bought a Nikon from "knifestore" a week or so ago. Both scope and seller = THE REAL DEAL. Buy with confidence!
