Nite Lights

I hear a lot about the various Night Lights and I just bought a new Nite Light Coon Hunters Light. I bought the Halogen head. I was wondering how good these would be for Night hunting? I really do not care that much for Night Hunting compared to Day Hunting but with one of these lights it seems like you could leave your vehicle behind. Any one with experience hunting with one of these other than Coon Hunting?

I checked out the Lightforce website, and liked what I saw, however, there was no pricing info or search engine to help me find a dealer. What's the best place to buy these?

You'll be fine with it Daddyflea. I have the Wizard II and got the halogen bulb when the original burned out.(two seasons)Even with a red lense, target ID is not a problem out to 150 yards or so. I pack the battery in a turkey vest and don't even know it's there. We get several all nighters in between charges as well. My bro's insanely expensive Lightforce fell apart the second time he used it. Good luck.

I bought the Nite Lite with the Halogen head and have to say it is not as good as a spot light but it is plenty bright to hunt at night. I bought my 10 year old Son one as well. We camped out a few days and fished some private lakes. In one lake we heard tons of Bullfrogs so as soon as it got dark, we put our lights on and went after them.

We caught about 10 good sized ones with our hands and a fish net. We went back to our camp and started cleaning the fish and frogs. My Son was sleepy and glanced off in the distance and caught a set of eyes. He is a veteran coyote hunter and asked me if I thought it was a coyote. I told him it might be because they could smell the blood.

He went back to cleaning the fish and the sound of running feet caught our attention. My Son turned to see the two eyes running right at us. He screamed like a little girl and started trying to climb on our Rhino. Just then our house dog put its feet up on his leg. He shook for thirty minutes after that.

I've had one for a long time and used it for just about everything. The regular halogen head is ok for close in work with a barrel bracket. They sell a scope light and a handheld spotlight as accessories one of these may be just what you want.

I dont have any experience with headlights but the best way to know is to find a few wide open spots and call and see how well you light picks up their eyes. Id guess they should be fine. The red filter really cuts the light down. You really want probably 250,000 to 400,000 candle power to be effective for open country. If you are not in open country you can probably get away with alot less. I have a thread on here somewhere with my spotlight setup

I really dont see a need for anything more other than maybe a longer shroud and a trigger that moves the red filter for shooting. I also have an aircraft landing light but the darn thing is to bright and sucks up to much juice. I believe headlamps are not really for calling as much as tracking and treeing coons. I have 3 lights and batteries, the lights are about $20 each and the batteries are $12 each. I dont use a dimmer either, no real need. The hot spots are supposed to be about 300,000 to 330,000 Cp. I did have one switch get flakey after a few years so I went ahead and put better switches on all the lights just because I had them. I have also had 1 spare bulb that I have never had to use, and ive had the lights probably 7 years+. Night hunting is great!!!

i have a nite lite tracker and i have never had any problems with it at all and it has been through alot of abuse. i have never had problems spotting eye balls out to 200 yards. the battery also keeps a long charge
