Be careful with the ball powders, W748 and BL-C(2). Make sure you start with the minimum loads and work up. They are a lot less forgiving than the stick powders.

Try 26.0gr of H335. I worked up a load for my sons 223 and got a 4 shot group just under a 1/2" at a 100yrds

25.5 of benchmark with the 50gr BT seated at 2.250 rem 7 1/2 BR primer is a really good load. Its also the most accurate load in the nosler book for the 50gr BT.

For years now my number one .223 load has been 26 grains of Varget with the 50 grain Nosler BT. I have shot many a ragged hole 5 group with it at 100 yards in all three of my 223 rifles and this is including my AR-15. Just last weekend I was taking ground squirrels out past 300 yards with it.

If I could only use one powder and bullet combo in my .223 rifles this would be it. Wouldnt even have to think about it.

I have a go-to load for my 223's and 222 Rem Mag's that shoots amazingly accurate with the 50 gn NBT's, and H-4895 powder, with Win Small Rifle primers. 26.0 to 26.5 gns of the H-4895 works, period. Start low and work up for your rifle.
That 50 gn NBT is one of THE best bullets in my 22 caliber rifles.

When I couldn't get Herters powders anymore I started loading the 223 with 3031 and it worked so good for me that I never found a need to change, very accurate under 50gr NBT's for me.
