Nosler 55 gr. Ballistic Tip in .223, any experience?

I have been reloading some of these bullets for my .223 with 21.5 grains of H4198. How will these bullets perform on coyotes or bobcats? By the way, I've gotten more good information off this website in the last month since I've been a member than any of the magazines in the last 5 years. Where have you all been? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

55 grain nosler b.t is all I have ever used out of my 223. Along with 25 grains of H335, I have found no better load for my rifle. I have taken around 24 coyotes with it, no run offs. It has killed from 10 yards to 615 yards on coyotes. Only 2 have required an extra round to keep them down for good. I have only owned the rifle a year, but it, and the round I reload have proven to me to be my life long companions.

The 55 NBT is the only bullet I've ever used out of my .22 centerfires.. It is definitly the best bullet out there for me. You'll do fine with it...

They where super accurate out of my P-Dog rifle. I never shot a coyote or cat with that load, but it sure would make a prairie dog explode.

My AR-15's love them, my Savage 22-250 thinks they are
OK, but really prefers launching 50 gr. bullets.
My Tikka T-3 .223 hasn't been to the range enough to
form a consensus, which is in itself a damn crime.
Some stupid guy let his wife talk him into a new
house, and that stupid guy hasn't been near the
loading bench, or the rifle range, in what seems
like an eternity! Rant off.

In my .22 centerfire rifles, I get great results with
both Nosler BTs, and Horandy VMax, bullets. The
difference is usually more to do with the load/rifle
combo than which of these two bullets I am using in
the load.

Squeeze--Boy, can I relate to you. Our house caught fire a month ago and we have been doing nothing but cleaning ever since. None of my hunting gear was affected. Guess we have to take a little of the good, bad, and the ugly. This to shall pass.

I got extemely good accuracy with BT's in my .270, so I figured I would give them a go in the .223. Hope you are able to get out shooting soon. All work and no play will make Squeeze a grumpy guy!

I loaded the 55 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip bullet for my AR15 for a while. The AR didn't like that bullet as well as it does the 55 grain V Max, but I did shoot a few coyotes with it.

It seems like the jacket may be heavier on the Nosler bullet than it is on the Hornady. I was loading them to around 3100 fps and it seemed like I always had a pass through. The exit hole wasn't any bigger than a quarter though.

The V Max bullet almost never exits, but if you have a fairly close shot, it will tear a pretty big hole going in.

I guess the bottom line is.....Both rounds killed 'em deader than a hammer. The V Max just does it a little cheaper than the Nosler round.

I found the 55gr Nosler to work very good on coyotes, this is what I used before I went to the Tactical.20. I tried the v-max in the T.20 and they were too explosive. T.20

Welcome to the board, glad you like it. We have been here all the time, where were you?

These bullets seem to work very well and are the choice of many here on this board for their .223's. The jackets on the BT will be thicker than the V-Max's therefore not as explosive. However don't take this as fur friendly. The BT's can tear up a yote as good as the rest if the shot is in a bad place.

They work real well for me in 223 and 22-250, 223 I use 2230 I think 25 grains. about 3000 fps. very accurate, kill well.
