for my remington 700sps varmint I reload 55gr vmax with 36gr of varget. Its what give me the tightest group (started at 35 And went up to 36.2 gr by .2gr increments)
On my chronos it show an average of 3920 fps....
It does a lots of damage on yote.

I just bought some nosler 55gr ballistic tip last night , I want to get a slower rds that doesnt blow up the coyotes. the little research I did since last night didn't get me much load data for it.

Does anybody have something to share ?

36 gr of Varget with the Hornady 55 gr V-Max is 1.4 gr over the Max load of 34.6 gr according to my Hornady manual.

When I could use lead bullets out of my 22-250 on coyotes I had less fur damage and less exit holes with 55 gr V-Max bullets than I had with Nosler 55 gr Solid Base Ballistic Tips.

My Nosler manual shows 31.0 gr for the minimum Varget load and 35.0 gr of Varget for the Max load of Varget for the 22-250 and the Nosler 55 gr SB BT bullet. The 35.0 Max load of Varget shows at 3635 FPS with the Nosler 55 gr SB BT bullet.

Im at work so I cant really procure data, but I think on hodgon site and/or the lyman book I have it show 36.5 or 37 gr of varget max load for the vmax 55gr. (Not saying you are wrong, just pointing the differences between the load manual)

Thanks for the info for the nosler, if I lime them, ill have to buy the book.

I have not had good luck with tipped bullets at 22-250 speeds for fur saving. 55gr nosler gave me large entrance holes. I switched to 60gr sierra hp at 3450fps which is a pretty mild load. I have dropped 10-12 coyotes with them and only lost one to a blow out. coyote quartered towards me just right and only presented a shoulder shot so I doubt any bullet would have been much better. the 60s are very accurate for me and I have not had a single spinner or runner just bang flops. I run ar comp which is very similar burn rate to varget, just a touch faster.

I shoot 34gr of Varget in Lapua brass with a Fed 210 primer and 55gr NBT. I have not had any problems with "blow outs" and its average is 3650 fps
