Nosler CT ballistic silvertips

I just starting working up loads for my Kimber .223. I like the groups I have shot with the nosler combined technology ballistic silvertips in 50gr. A friend of mine just advised me that the coating on the bullet to reduce friction and fouling will coat my barrel with the substance. It will be a pain to remove and really doesn't have any advantage to the regular ballistic tips. I have shot both the regular and ballistic silvertips and they shoot the same in my rifle. Excellent groups and same zero in 50 gr. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I shoot the ct's and b.t.s as well if you are concerned about any build up don't use them For what its worth I have never noticed any kind of build up what so ever

thanks for info, "if concerned don't use them." I never would have thought of that myself. I like the bullets, I just want to know if the lubricant concerns are legitimate or an unfounded rumor.

Artie,

The coating is lubalox. It's a coating marketed and trademarked by Winchester. It's similar to Moly. The biggest advantage is cleaning less, when you do clean though, depending on your cleaning method, you might have to fire the rifle up to 6+ times to regain your POI. Although Nosler says differently, I have had to fowl my barrel after brushing when I used the CT Silver Tips. I tried the CT's after shooting Moly for years in 22-250's, 308's and in my 300 jarret. I never noticed an appreciable difference in accuracy so I have given up on coated bullets. My life and range time has become easier. Here's a clip from the nosler WWW for you to read

Are Lubalox and Moly the same?

NO, Lubalox (CT Ballistic Tip) is an oxide-based coating, which reduces fouling and allows more shooting between cleanings, also Lubalox does not buildup in the barrel and requires only normal cleaning procedures. Moly (CT Fail Safe & Partition Gold) is a molybdenum disulfide coating which reduces fouling and friction. Moly requires a barrel be conditioned by shooting several rounds after cleaning and special cleaning procedures. Accuracy with non-coated bullets may not be up to par in a Moly conditioned barrel.

thanks for taking the time to respond. That's the info I was looking for. One more question. Is Nosler phasing out the CT ballistic silvertips or is production still going strong? Thanks
