I heard a rumor that ODNR released a pair of Red Wolf's in the deer creek area.. Im not sure if its a hillbilly rumor,or if there's any truth to it..I remember the storys of ODNR dropping timber rattlers out of helocopters, and the huge Lady bug releases storys all turned out to be BS! anyone else hear anything?

Haven't heard that one yet, I do know that they released rattlers in the area know and Rattle snake hollor, but that was for wilderness survial for the National Guard years ago. that way they could find something to eat.LOL.

and what's the big deal with Red wolfs????? in a few short years we will have timber wolfs here thanks to Michigan.

Hey its not our fault, but if your not nice we'll send some of our cougars down there. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Don't about the lady bugs, they dropped them all on my house here in St. Marys PA. I kill about 200000 a year, enough to shovel off my sidewalk on occassion.

They released some Red Wolves in Louisiana a few years back. They have made their way to central texas and interbred with the coyotes on the way. This I was told by by a TPW officer. I guess it could happen in Ohio.

Dropping rattlesnakes out of helicopters. THAT is funny. I can't type, I'm laughing so hard. Wait. I think I just heard a thump on my roof. I hope it's not a snake.PC

They have released and are managing a population of red wolves in eastern NC. I did read that they were concerned about inbreding with yotes. I have also heard of air drops of rabies vacsinated baits along the appilacian mountains to cut off the rabies epidemic in coons on the east coast from getting into the mid west, but haven't heard of any snake drops in this neck of the woods...which works fine for me.

hummmmm wolf's and cougars sounds like i am going to need more calls!!!!!!! cant wait lol yeah and the Government turned the coyotes loose here too because too many deer right? That must be the reason for the wolf's to get rid of the coyotes lol. Gotta admit that all these stories are great reading though don't ya.

They said the same thing here in WV about dropping rattlesnakes from helicopters to help control the turkey population and now stocking yotes to control the deer pop. Sounds pretty far out to me.

i wish they would stop letting all these fregin animals loose and not letting us hunt them.hahahaha. if they want to control a population just up my tag limits each year.ill help them all i can. im paying enough for tags as it is though, i figure they'll be raising them again this year. its pretty bad when i can hunt out of state cheaper than in state.

here in pa its not stocked snakes but some oldtimes believe that the estern coyotes here were stocked by the pa game commission back in the 40s, and in the last 10 years hundred of suposable mt. lion sightings have sparked the rumor of them being stocked. one was finaly shot two years back, the hunter was fined since its not a game animal, and it was found to be lip tattooed and was a released pet. yeah and the lady bugs are released to control the gypse moths and tent catterpillars, anyone around here in 94 thru 97 remembers what they do, and dont mind the lady bugs

Bushman that drop was done in the New River Gorge to control the tourist (aka turkey) population. We were over run with them at the time, but they are now in check, except the winter months. We dropped polar bears in the ski areas to take care of that.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Thanks for humoring me.

About 15 years ago they raised and released Red Wolves in Eastern NC. They are Federally protected. I am not sure if they are still raising them now, but know that they still exist around Creswell, Hyde, and Pamilico counties. I heard that the government did a study on the genes within this wolf population, and it is questionable as to whether or not is has some coyote genes within this strain of red wolf.
My friend worked with the red wolves in his senior year of college. He said that they raised a lot of individual wolves that were released into different areas.

I know one for sure here in S. Ohio. The PETA type idiot down the street let his "pet" wolf get away from him year before last. Never got it back .... so it's out there somewhere. It was full blood.

Thats OK several years ago WKRP droped turkeys in Cincinnati, boy that NG eats good.

Shameless

I spoke with a guy that shot one in that area a couple months ago. From what he said it must be the same one.(Someone's Pet) It was chasing stock. I couldn't tell ya his name, but he isn't one to B.S. You never know what those PETA-phial types would do if they found out. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
