ok ive decided to get a bolt action 223 insted of a ar-15. and im very partial to savage and ive seen this rifle http://www.savagearms.com/25model_Lightweightthumbhole.htm

ive held one an love it very much so i was surfing the web and seen. some ammo federal puts out some 223 ammo that they call. "Federal Tactical TRU 55 Grain 55 Grain Nosler Ballistic Tip"

i wonder if this ammo is any good i found it here http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AMM262-5.html

i have not seen it around town just wondering how it is

but ive got a budyd with an FFL that can get me great deals so im thinking of a new gun and stuff

Federal usually puts out some very good ammunition, especially in .223...

I notice that on the CTD site you listed, they are sounding like they are restricting sales to LEOs only... You might want to check before you try to order..

"Restricted sales, contact our law enforcement division."

thanks i did not notice that well since that is out the window. what ammo you suggest i get when i do decide to get the rifle.

i shot TRU 40 grains for a couple of years because it was just cheap i was paying 9.99 a box for it and it shot very well i think that they put a seirra hollow point in them the dealer that i bought them from said that he couldnt get them anymore

I had exceptional accuracy with the Hornady Varmint Express with 55 gr. V-Max. It was 1/2 the group size of any other factory load I tried in my AR.

i see i guess i will us it to kill varmints also might do some target shooting long range. it will be a while before i get the rifle. though but thats the one im thinking of is the savage. ive got a savage 22 17hmr and a 243 with accutrigger. and love all 3 of them they shoot really well. ive got a remington 700 sps 204 it shoots good too. but i think i like savage better

+1 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I bought the last of what our dealer had and he can't get anymore either. Luckily I got enough to last a long time as long as I only use them for coyotes. Good ammo too.

I saw some on the shelf at the local CTD store just 2 weeks ago. Didn't look like they were restricting sales to LEO's. But that was 2 weeks ago.

This from the CTD web site.

"Non-returnable item; we will not accept any returns on this. Restricted sales, contact our law enforcement division.

Ammo restrictions: We do not sell ammunition to Massachusetts; New York City; Washington, DC; or Cook County, Illinois. Please check your state and local laws before ordering ammunition."

That is just CTD's hype, yes it is a type ammunition used by some LE agencies, and if you have agency letterhead you can get a further discount on it, but CTD buys overrun stock and sells it at a supposed discount. You can buy the same stuff OTC at most gunstores or you canb buy the nosler BT bullets and with the help of any good manual roll your own just as good. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
