Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm so sick of the same ole 243 as a deer rifle arguments and 17Rem as a coyote rifle arguments that I just want to barf. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

But here's something new and I mean deliciously new... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

How about a Leupold VX-7 series of scopes? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Don't believe me? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

google "Leupold VX-7"... You'll be amazed!!!

I'm with you, we do need some fresh topics of discussion around here. However, there is not much to talk about the VX-7.

Price Quote on VX-7: "4.5-18x56 Long Range (VX-L type objective).....$1799.95"

For that price I can buy a Cooper and put a Leupold VX-III 6.5-20x40mm with 30mm tube on it.

I can't imagine that it is "that good".

Hmmmm. Do you think that scope will work on a 243 for deer? No, wait...how about a 243 for varmints....Or a 204 ruger for brown bears....LOL!!!!

Sorry, I couldn't resist

Leupold has serious problems.
They can't even make their top line scopes work after several times through repair.
Introducing a new line when they can't fix their current top offerings?????????????

Maybe a quick money grab so the executives can get their golden parachutes?

I'm not a Leupold fan either... And I think the prices are waaaay too high. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

It appears that these scopes must be offered to compete with the US Optics, Swarovski, Zeiss etc. lines of scopes.

I don't see Leupold lasting much longer in the face of scopes made overseas getting better and better almost daily now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Interesting to see these offered and the price points are amazing.

And no... I don't know what happened to the VX-4, 5, and 6 either. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

As far as whether or not they'll work on your 243 deer rifles or 17 caliber coyotes rifles... Well... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Jack is right.

Leupold has a lot of internal problems.... and they can be traced directly to the Harvard MBAs in "marketing" and the new generation of bean counters.

Years back, when you called, you spoke to someone that was a shooter... now you speak to someone that reads answers off a FAQ card, and has never shot a gun.

They have lost their way by trying to be everything to everybody, and the "More models is better" philosophy.

They keep coming out with new models (that no one wants), yet the innovative scopes are coming from others.

How many of you have seen a shooter in the field with the model "VX-L" (the Droopy loopy)... I have never seen one outside of a store.

Their prices are escalating faster than the national debt.

I worked with them on a MK4-M3 problem in the late 90's and I couldn't believe the mess that I dealt with.

A friend that works in engineering told me that Leupold was sending a bunch of the employees to a basic shooting course so they might understand the customers better.

WHAT???

Old man Leupold must be spinning in his grave.

What is being said must be true. My father-in-law is former special ops and still has buddies in Delta, SEALs, Rangers, etc. 5-10 years ago Leupold was as popular as any scope. He said now you won't hardly find a Leupold on a Spec. Op. weapon. A good majority have gone to Shepherd Scopes as well as a scattering of Zeiss, Nightforce, US optics and Swaro. The Shepherds 24" ballistic reticle is very popular with troops in the field (human torso depth) and the 18" is very popular for sniper silhouette (silhouette is 18" wide) competitions I'm told.
