Picked this one up today down at the corner gunshow. $200 OTD.

Stocks are a bit beat, but metal is excellent.

Sooo, I started digging through some old shotgun stuff, and came up with:

Hogue 870 Forend

Heat shield with ghost ring sight

A magazine tube wrench

A forend wrench

An 870 speed safety

A set of tactical style sling clamps/attachments/studs

And some dummy rounds and popper blanks

Not a bad haul, given I had no idea what I was going to find

So, the plan is to pimp this one out. I'll cut barrel down and maybe reinstall Poly Choke system (not sure). I need to pick out a butt stock. I'm also thinking shellholder, extended mag. tube, and possibly a DIY duracoat job. Or maybe leave all black. Not sure.

I'd like to hear some suggestions on what to do, and would also love to see some pics of your "pimped out shotguns".

Let's see 'em.............

Also, forgot to add:

If anyone is interested in trading for the existing forend/buttstock for a tactical style buttstock, PM me. They will need some refinishing, but appear to be of pretty nice wood.

Or if anyone has any extra of said 870 parts, maybe we can work out a trade for something.

Would also like to hear opinions on said Poly Choke.

Thanks......

I'm tacticooling my 870. I bought a NIB 870, added a Mag-Pul forend and butt stock, an 8 round Tac-star extended tube, Carlson Coyote choke. I still want a barrel band to link the extended tube and barrel (also sling swivel) and possibly a shell holder. Its all black now but will change that in the future. I haven't shot it yet so need to get out soon. Good luck on the build and have fun!

Not yet, gonna wait till I'm finished. A little teaser!! Also added a Pursuit LPS sight. Sorta a mini Eotech (Bass Pro). It has four different reticles and is in red or green with 5 power options. Kinda cool, very light weight and small. Hope it works good. Try to get some pics soon.

That's a good find ,Ken.
I've got an old WM 870 that I picked up a the GS a few years ago. The stock and been cut for a new rubber pad and it had some "freckles" on the metal from some dumb donkey that left it in a cheap case. It cleaned up pretty good. I chopped the barrel and reinstalled the bead, but haven't done any more with it. My house gun.

Yeah, that looks real nice. And it is really all you need.

Nice wood on that too.

I figured I may as well take advantage of the "gunshow loophole" while it is still there. 3rd Shotgun I bought this week. Other 2 are already gone. I'm gonna keep this one.......

Ken,
Why a Poly Choke instead of having the barrel machined to accept choke tubes?

Edit: One thing I would add is a tritium bead for the barrel.

Nice pickup Ken, the only 870 I have left is a Supermag with a 28" barrel not very tactical though. I think a poly choke on a tactical type shotgun makes sense just a quick turn of the choke.

Not a 870 but definitely old school

The Poly Chokes work great. I have one soldered onto an 18inch barrel on a 28ga 870 WM that I used for rabbit and grouse hunting. A quick turn and you changed chokes, plus you don't have extra weight in your pockets and you will never forget your choke tubes. Adjustable for anything from X-Full to Cyl.

GC---The polychoke is already on it, so I figured it may be cool to put it back on the shortened barrel. This thing is just gonna be a house gun, so I really not sure how much I actually need adj. chokes, but it may come in handy. I just thought it may look kinda cool too. I purposely bought a gun without vent rib, also.

A tritium sounds like a good plan.......

Sweet Rick. I have a 1897 also, only it has a 28" on it, I believe. Shot my first pheasant with it, IIRC. It hasn't been hunted in over 20yrs now, just sits in the safe.......
