Old Scopes

What do you do with old scopes? Just curious. I still have my first Leupold purchased new in 1978. It's an M8 x24 that I purchased for my first varmint rifle. Fact is I still use it.

Lately though I was wondering if I should sell it and buy something newer. What do you do with old scoes?

I use my old scopes for my new rifles until I get a new scope...Right now I have a Tasco on my AR. Once I buy the new glass for my AR, the Tasco will go back in the drawer until a new rifle shows up. I used to sell everything when I was done with it, now I save everything no matter what it is.

You'll regret it, but you might someone very happy?
If i could figure out a way to get what a new scope
cost out of my 20 year old weaver i'd let it go. Maybe.

The funny thing if you consider the one post where someone said one just like my scope sold for $375 on ebay is I paid $190 for that scope. So reality is that's almost double what I paid new.

On the minus side try to replace that scope today.

That scope served me well, for 35 years. I just think there are better optics out there today.

I have an old Weaver K2.5 60-B 2.5x scope from at least 1955 that I have on a 1949 Marlin 336RC. This scope is on the gun still and I just can't seem to put the new Leupold 2-7x33 VX II that I have had sitting in the safe for the last 4 years.

I still have a 3-9x32 Tasco I bought in the early 70's when they were made in Japan. Has never let me down. Now rides on my Saiga .308.

I have a steel tube Weaver V-7 that still trumps a lot of the newer 'budget line' type scopes. And it sure looks better/cleaner.

I have an old German sniper scope that someone offered me $1000 for it.

Going to be handed down. Just need to find a scope mount for it. Also have the gun to put it on.

Funny you should mention this but i would say put it on something and use it. My redfield 2-7 failed last fall on my 30-06 after 24 years of not touching the adjusters it was deadly on whitetails so this summer I gotta fix it.

I'm sticking to my old scopes, Weaver V9-B 3x9AO, Redfield 8x32 Target, 6x18Accu-trac, 2x7 Five Star. If it works, don't fix it. These oldies but goodies will outlast me.

Especially the older Tascos "Japan" those are some really good optics... I have a older Tasco on my 7mm Mag.. With the wide FOV instead of the standard circle FOV... BDC as well... I can't tell you how many fellow hunters have tried to buy that "Old Tasco" ...

I bought a Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe 7mm Rem Mag back in 1969 and a Redfield Widefield 6x fixed power scope for it. I still own it and it still shoots as good as the day I got it. I check it before seasons and its always been right on! Taken everything with it, elk, deer, antelope, marmots, coyotes and prairie dogs even a duck once!
I just keep everything most of the time. Everything I've ever sold or traded I almost always regret later. So I quit doing that.

i seem to buy those [beeep] redfeild widefeild scopes... dont no why, but i stick them were they belong... on my old winchesters i dont shoot
