Older Savage model 10 in 22-250

I've been looking for a 22-250 and found someone selling a Savage model 10. This is the original model 10 with the wood stock, sport barrel and internal magazine. It is a sweet looking gun and looks well cared for, but I don't know if it is a deal or not.

I tried looking up information on the model 10 and the only thing that comes up are the new Model 10 Predator. Does the original model 10 compare to the Predator or more to the Axis series?

Any information someone can provide will help me out.

Thanks!

My impression would be that it is closer to the new model 10 than the Axis. I have a four year old (I think) Model 10 Varmint bbl that was a special run for Big 5 Sporting Goods. Definitely not an Axis. I have two Axis rifles and they are shooters. But the Model 10 is more like the current offerings.

I would assume it is like my older model 110E 270 but in short action. If that is the case it would be like a stevens 200 with a better stock. I looked at one a couple years ago like you are talking about I believe but it had a medium contour barrel. It was in ok condition and I think they wanted $400 for it. Try searching "savage model 110E". That's what model mine is. I could be very wrong though. My 110E shoots great by the way!

This guy is wanting $500. It looks like it's in good shape. It isn't the accu-trigger. It has a scope with it, but the scope is a CenterPoint 4-16x50. Not a high dollar scope but it will work for a bit.

Evidently, the Savage 10 is the same as the Stevens 200 with a better finish and stock. The guy says he won't budge on the price, but it comes with 180 rounds also. Decisions, decisions....

That's kinda what I figured. For what it's worth, my 110 270 shoots fantastic with just about anything I put in it. As far as price, people seem to be asking around $350 to $400 on used gun websites but don't come with ammo.

I ended up passing up the deal. We just couldn't come to an agreement. This has put the taste in my mouth so now it looks like I'll be on the hunt for a Savage 10 Predator.
