Olts game calls

CallingArkansas

New member
I remember approximately 45 years ago my dad had an Olt’s Predator call. It was the grey and black colored fox/coyote call. I called up my first predator, a grey fox, with that call. I just recently ran up on their web site and noticed they still make predator calls. The grey and black colored fox/coyote call runs about $35 and then they have a solid black colored predator call that runs about $75. Does anyone use either of these calls and how do they compare to other hand predator calls?

Way back in the early 1960’s my Mother ordered me (at my begging) an Olt crow call (P. S. Olt Company). If I recall correctly she paid $1.75 for it. I sure put some crows on the ground with that call. Let a neighbor talk me out of it a few years later and have regretted it ever since. Never tried their predator calls. At that time Olt was well known.

I think I still have mine and called my first coyotes with it. I think it was plastic black & green. Not a real authentic call but the coyotes in those days were dumb. I haven't used it in years. I went to the Circe combination cottontail & jackrabbit call then to the electronics.

I had a cfrow call that was black/green w/ and adj tuner around the barrel. Still have an Olt squirrel call someplace.

They all were about $2 back in early 60s. Neighbors bought some Herters duck and goose about the same time but they were fancy wood and nearly $10.

The first two coyotes I called and killed was with the black and green olt preditor call. They both had mange bad, but it was a thrill. That was in the early 80's in NH. Lost it somewhere.I still hace a crow call and an owl hooter by them.

I recently used a 30 plus year old one quite successfully.......

Check out djcalls.com . This is where the old olt style calls are still made. I bought a couple from David Jackson and they are as good as my old olt calls . David is in Pekin,Il.

The old Olt Sonderman 66 was my favorite duck call, I still use it. I used an Olt predator call but don't remember it as far as colour, I want to say it was all black and square shaped.

I still have an old Olt crow call, and, for at the time, at a cost of about $5, a Burnham Brothers long range call, short range call, and instructional 45 RPM record. Called up a fox on first time use.
