I was able to get out on a few stands and capture a successful coyote stand with the Wraith. Unfortunately, it is supposed to rain all week, so I won't get out again until next week.

Yes, I realize the coyote is out of focus. I had preset the focus to the edge of the corn, and I didn't have time or want to move to adjust the focus.

Some will say it is too tight, but use a traditional glass scopes such as a 4x12 or 4x16 scope and think it is fine. I run my day scopes somewhere between 4 and 6 power, so it really is the same. At night, a smaller field of view can be a little harder as you don't have your eyes to help pinpoint the coyote location for quick target acquisition.

The hardest thing for me to remember to do is to adjust the focus. The higher the base mag on any digital device including thermal, the more precise the focus has to be for a good picture. In this case, the coyote was on top of the call in about 1-2 seconds. By the time, I turned the recording on, I didn't have time to focus the scope. It didn't bother the shot, but it hurts the quality of the video. At night if using IR in Night Mode, if the focus isn't right, everything just looks overexposed, so it is even more critical at night.

Kirsch, talk about smoking him!! And that terrain is flat as a flitter out your way. I believe I could easily get lost in those wide open places.

As to focus being so critical, I can see where the scope would work well at a bait site at a known or predetermined distance.

How are you recording sound with the Wraith?

I notice you removed the rubber eye cup from the scope. If you leave it in place, do you have to push your eye into it to get a good view?

The only sound you heard on the video were from my video camera before the hunt and after, and background music that was added later. The only other sound is the gunshot. I have several recorded gunshots of hits from this gun from various other recording devices. I just pop the gunshot in at the right time, and it is like the Wraith has sound. The good thing is you don't get all the distractions of the wind noise, etc. The only time I miss not having sound is when a coyote is really vocal and talks back a lot. Then it is fun to have on the video.

With the way the Wraith is mounted to my gun, I seemed to lose a part of the screen unless I really pressed in like you said, so I pulled it. Might splash too much light at night, but for daytime hunting it is fine. I could potentially use a riser and it might help a bit on my AR set up, but it works fine with the eyecup removed.
