I am going to build my first ar and was wondering what you guys think of the del-ton kits compared to model 1. They are pretty close to the same price, I know model 1 uses er shaw barrels and del-ton uses wilson or for a couple bucks more you can get a dpms barrel. Let my know the difference so I can make an educated decision.
Thanks.

Those both should be using the same parts like recievers, parts kits etc....check prices also with J&T they have good prices too and are on par with the rest...maybe cheaper:

Don't count out OLY with a SUM (Stainless Ultra Match)barrel, broach cut or even their standard Chrome Molly....Complete rifle kits (minus stripped lower) from $450 and complete upper kits unassembled from $345....PM or email me for how to get that price. Satisfaction guarantee and accuracy guarantee on complete uppers.

Some of the Mil-Spec barrels only have acccuracy of 1.5-2" at 100 yards...these are usually chrome lined M4 barrels...no flames please..just stating facts. Some are more accurate than that but it can happens with inconsistencies in the chrome lining process.

EDIT: about non-chrome lined:
SWAT magazine editor Denny Hansen has gone on record in print to say that his CAR barrel from Olympic Arms went 80,000 PLUS before the headspace was too deep. But the barrel was still holding acceptable accuracy (1.25" at 100 yards, and that is with a 11.5" barre w/5.5" flash supressor...).

I have a del-ton upper. 20" flat top, dpms float tube and gas block, standard barrel with gas block. It shoots under moa all day. Very nice in fit and finish.
