On the fence

I sold my No3 in 22 K-Hornet and kinda thought I was done with the Hornet, but I saw a Contender in a shop yesterday that has peaked my interest. Not so much the caliber (22 Hornet) but for the frame and stock set. Its a stainless frame with what appears to be a Boyd's thumbhole stock. My Contender is in a plastic stock and seems very short and the trigger in my frame is HORRIBLE! Both of these issues need fixed and soon. My frame isn't easy open and I'm not sure if the stainless frame is or not as I didn't physically hold the rifle but I may go back today for another look. They have it priced at what I think is fair. Just not sure what I want to do yet.

You looking for someone to try and talk you out of another purchase or someone to justify the fact that you've already made up your mind to buy it in your heart? 🤣

Just needing to know which side of the fence im to stand on.

Here let me push you ... hold it, play with it, and then buy it.

You could keep the other barrel from the other contender, sell the other frame that you have recoup a bit (provided they interchange) .
Maybe the new contender frame will work better with the 30-30 barrel ?.

It's kind of like the Ruger MKII 22/45 I ran across at the local Gunsmith's shop. I thought of a purpose for it, fondled it, Could easily live without it. Mulled it over in my head told him I'd take it at his price point (but the muzzle needed threading). No real love for it, but could use it to dispatch snakes and such. Loan to the kids when they go camping, fishing etc. basically a beat around gun.

Of course you already thought of this. Otherwise you wouldn't be on the fence.

Well I went back to buy the T/C and it was gone. Guess it doesn't matter now. I think I got duped but that's another story for a another day.

I was actually wanting it for parts mainly. Mine has the plastic stock and feels like a rifle for kids. The SS frame and easy open was a plus and the Hornet barrel was just........a Hornet. It was an EA Brown barrel. They did have a new Encore frame in stock They look nice.
