One Shot and neck tension

I just loaded some 243 and lubed with One Shot spray. When seating the bullet, it took very little effort and I assume its because the spray way in the neck. Does this have any effect on neck tension? They sure seated easy. May be a dumb question but I had to ask.

Not a dumb question at all.
I've always tried to have the necks dry and clean when I seat the bullets, but I'm not sure if it ever made any difference.

I haven't had issues with neck tension and HOS. Seating could be effected by less squeeze in your sizer or newer less work hardened brass.

Not dumb at all. I've pondered that myself when I use it. I can't recall ever trying to clean it out and don't know if it caused any issues or not. It would be a good test, load 10 more but brush the lube out and shoot both ways for groups and see if there's a difference.
 
If you have lube inside the neck, it becomes very apparent when you funnel the powder charge into the case. Powder sticks to the inside of the neck. It's messy, and I think causes groups to open. Ball powder is the worst at sticking, but both ball and extruded make a mess if lube is inside the neck even just at the mouth.
 
A lot of guys go out of there way to lube inside the neck before seating bullets. They use dry lube. Which I guess HOS is dry after application.

I prefer clean and dry, myself. But I rarely use any lube and when I do it never gets in the necks.

I tried the dry lube in one super accurate barrel years ago and it didn't make any difference. So I didn't bother continuing the practice. Other barrels, other applications, I hear it does make a positive difference and I've no reason to doubt it. Just didn't matter for me and that barrel.

But shooting always tells the truth. Rather than wonder. Shoot. Know. Does it make a difference or not? Good or bad? No need to wonder about these things.

I just buy the cheap pipe cleaners down at the dollar store to clean the inside of my case necks with before I dump powder into them. A friend uses Q-tips but I like the pipe cleaners myself.
 
OS is supposed to dry on the case before you resize it. powder doesn't stick to it once dry & if not dry, it doesn't lube the case & you'll end up with one stuck in the sizing die.

I've been using it for years and have not observed any change in group size or point of impact with known loads where I used a different case lube in the past.

HOS doesnt stick, nor will it effect powder/primers. Once its dry, its dry.

i stopped removing HOS a few years back. not worth the extra trip thru the tumbler.

Its rainy and cold but had to make a trip to the club. Figured I may as well check the zero on my Tikka. The loads with the One Shot were dead on the money at 200yds. Guess it didn't change anything/
