Right off, Please just read and think about what I am asking?
I live in S.E. Kansas, and the Hogs are almost knocking on the door!
I have heard with my own 2 ears that several Ranchers just raising
He$$ about how much one adult boar hog can tear up in 1 night.

I know lots of good hunters that would love to hunt those Hogs for them!
But NO! If you want to hunt these destructive animals you have to pay!!!!!!!!
I am sorry, but this will go down in my notes as the ALL TIME STUPID thing I have heard!!

Like stated at the start of this, I don't want to piss off anyone!!
I would just like to be able to understand the Logic of what they are saying!

I have hunted SE Kansas and I'm here to tell you. NOT if, But when hogs get settled in that area it's all over for the farmers. That area is a bomb of astronomical proportions ready to explode!
The most ideal habitat I've seen for hogs.

Your Farmers need to understand and join forces with the hunters to get the laws changed regarding hog hunting before it is too late! SHOOT ON SIGHT!

Last I heard it was against the law to shoot a hog in Kansas.Their logic was pure idiocy!

Feral hogs are a non-game species in Kansas and fall under the jurisdiction on the Ks Dept of Ag. The way I understand it there is a 2500$ per head fine if someone is caught transporting feral swine in KS, plus jail time. Also, consider the fact that many of the random hog populations show up many miles from other hog populations and you can see the logic behind that law. Feral hogs can be shot/hunted by the landowners or their "agents". Not to sure about them charging to hunt hogs on their property, I have not looked into that issue much. Last I heard, several of the random feral hog populations that were scattered across the state have been eliminated by the feds and the landowners. The hogs that keep showing up in southeast parts of the state are ones that are drifting in from OK and MO. 15 years ago when feral hogs started showing up in MO and KS, KS got on it aggressively and started working to eliminate any that showed up. MO was not as aggressive. Last numbers I heard, (this spring) KS had an estimated population of 300 feral hogs in the southeast part of the state, MO had an estimated population of close to 10,000. Several other states in the Midwest are following the KS plan for hog management as well (It has been called a stroke of genius by some in game management. Counter intuitive, I know.) Looks to me like KS knows what it is doing with its hog regulations. There are lots of places down south that are overrun with hogs from what I hear, so the hunting there should be a lot better than in KS.

CAG- I hear what you are saying about people complaining about something and then wanting to charge someone to help with the problem, that makes no sense to me either. I just wanted to give a little back ground to the KS feral hog situation to others who may not have an understanding about why things are the way they are as far the laws go.
 
In most places that have an abundance of hogs, the hogs are a real nuisance, but at the same time they are a renewable resource for those that market the hunting of or leasing of their property for hunting hogs. We lease land just to hunt hogs and pay dearly for the privilege. I can't blame a landowner for not wanting to "give the farm away".

Here in East Tennessee we have had a problem with landowners importing in pigs just so they can charge hunters for the privilege of hunting them. Now the pigs have spread from their properties and are causing problems for other landowners. TWRA finally saw the light and has now labeled the pigs as pests and landowners can kill them any time.
 
There is an old economic priciple:

If you have something other people want, it is worth something, and people will pay for it.

Here in South Texas hog hunting pales to other game species. Most ranchers will let you hunt for free off season if they trust you and know you're not going to create further problems.

Its the economy stupid... LOL!
