Opinions on Zeiss Conquest 6.5x20 with #58 ranging reticle

I am looking at one of these and need a little feedback.

It is a 6.5x20x50 with target turrets and a ranging reticle.

I have checked and it is new in the box and has full factory warranty. It is not one of the Canadian imports that Zeiss does not support.

I will be mounting it on my AR10T. I will mostly shoot paper and may start some competition shooting. I will also use it for shooting hogs at 200 yards plus. It will also serve as a long distance coyote rig for the farm.

I already have a "callin" rifle so weight is not really an issue.

I don't have the specific scope you're referring to, but I have always been impressed and happy with Zeiss optics.

Sorry if it is a bit OT, but to what are you referring here ? I haven't heard of anything like that. Zeiss even has a Canadian subsidiary, Carl Zeiss Canada Ltd.

According to one distributor that I spoke to a company imported Zeiss scopes through Canada in the recent past. They made an exhobitant profit and somehow violated an agreement with Zeiss so Zeiss would not honor warrantys on these scopes to prevent it from happenning again.

the scope is a 1" tube so elevation is limited to 45" of adj. at 100 yards. Evidently, this limits effective range on a .308 to about 800 yards.

I have looked at these scopes in stores for about a year and I have to say the glass is very nice and I prefer it to Leupold or nikon.

I am looking for opinions of users, likes or dislikes.

Zero at 200 yards, that'll help get a little more range from the scope. Also, invest in a 20 MOA base if you want to be stretching the 308 to near the 1K mark.

As for the scope, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. I have a leupold vx3 LR 6.5-20x50 30mm, SF and its pretty good glass to me. I"ve shot it out to 1150 yards on a 7 RM w/out a 20 MOA base. If I wasn't a diehard Leupold fan, I would buy Zeiss next. The zeiss 6.5-20 would be a nice scope for LR shooting. Dont really think you can go wrong with it.

Me too,I like mine as well.Very clear edge to edge.

I've never had a Zeiss yet but the only thing i don't like about the system is the ranging reticle itself. I like my ranging reticles to also dbl. as a ballistic reticle, which this 1 cannot very effectively. But the new Rapid-Z reticles will be out soon if they already aren't, and i'd send it in for a reticle change if i was getting it.

I have the Zeiss 6-20 with mildot. It replaces an elite 4200 6-24 mildot, everyone knows the 4200's are sweet. Comparing the two, the zeiss field of view is much larger and the scope is clearer edge to edge as well as brighter. I can look through the scope for 6 hours shooting sage rats and not have any significant fatigue.

One thing I noticed while mounting it is that I will rest the barrel on the carpet and look through the scope at arm's length to see if the reticle appears square to me. With the elite, this is quite easy because the scope "blacks out" and the reticle is easy to see. With the zeiss, this cannot be done. At arms length you are still looking through the scope clearly! Says something, I don't know what exactly but thought I would throw that in... Good luck, you won't regret it.

I have 6 Zeiss scopes from the 3x9 Conquest to the 6x24 72 Hensoldt and like them all very much. I haven't found anything else at the low end as bright and clean and easy to use .

I have Zeiss 6.5-20x50 duplex mounted on my .308 zero in at 200 yards and it has been very good scope. The other day me and a buddy were messing around and popping coke cans at 300 yards with no problem
