I am looking to do a custom build and was wondering if these actions were any good. Please give me your pros and cons. Thanks Rob.

Funny you should ask this because I've been looking at some myself and simply didn't know much about them.

I know you're typical Mauser action is as strong as it gets. Not sure if there is anything about the Parker Hale line that would change that.

Looking forward to hearing some responses though.

I had a Parker-Hale that I shot for years in .308 Winchester. As far as I could tell the action was fine. Bolt was smooth and fed well. I never had a problem one with it. I had intended on doing exactly what you guys are talking about. Made a trade with it though in a moment of weakness!

Years ago I purchased and put together a CVA kit in .300 Win Mag. It had the Parker Hale Mauser Action. It turned out to be a very dependable rig. It was a real tack driver.

In those days in NW Montana a local club held dynamite turkey shoots with sticks placed on the mountain side out to 600 yards. It was a BLAST (pun intended)!!!! That rifle held it's own against all comers. Won many a Turkey.

I have a Parker-Hale in a .243. It is a very accurate rifle, however it coppers up faster than my other rifles. Had rifle builder look at it, he had never seen a action like it. Upon extraction the bolt is not as supported (woobley) as others. I was later told this was true of Mauser actions as they were intended for military use but very dependable. I will keep mine and rebarrel when needed in .243AI.

They are a spanish civilian mauser action. Never heard of any problems
with them but they are known for being a little soft on the heat treating.
I just had one re-heat treated. The barrels on Parker Hales were very good
and rarely do you find one that isn't a real shooter. The woods used were
decent and for the money they were a lot of gun. My best groups and best
group ever was turned in with a 22-250 parker hale. (.19)
