Unfortunately, you will find most game regulations involving firearms and ammunition to be a little off of reality. Take for instance TN… they do not allow 22 cal firearms for hunting deer? That means that no one can even be in the field with a 22cal from the beginning of November until the middle of January! That is most of our bobcat and fox season! We also can’t use buckshot for coyote… the biggest they allow is BBB! The list goes on… so I won’t. Pa and a lot of the other eastern states are steeped in the “old” way of doing things, they will never change as long as some of the older council members are there. I fear the only thing that can be done is to wait until these older council members retire and some younger minds step into their place. At the same time we should not sit idly by and keep our mouths closed… we need to be speaking to anyone who will listen. I know… I have been doing it for a couple years now. You have a PA predator hunters association, use it! The more voices that they hear from an “organized group” the more they are likely to listen. I started the Mid South Predator Callers Association for this reason! They didn’t want to hear from “a” guy who wanted something changed, so I came to them with an organization. They listened… I have a good source that tells me that the 22cal restriction could be revised this year! Let’s hope… two steps forward and one step back… I am still getting one step!
