Owl food

Out calling the other night and had an owl keep buzzing us. Looked up once and he was locked in heading straight for me, I shined the light and he veared off. Is this fairly common at night?

Owls and hawks come to me all the time.
Sometimes too close.
Coyotes have been keeping their distance, though.

The owl eats a lot of the same vermin as a coyote, your ringing its dinner bell as well as the four legged predators. Any distress call will get there attention.
Watch the wearing of a fuzzy type cap at night like a toboggan with the knot on top. You could loose it and a little scalp as well.
Nothing like the breeze from a pair of wings to get your attention. Lets you know what your doing is working!!

I have an owl (or several)buzz me almost every night. They will get pretty close, and have sometime even taken a shot at the guy in the chair. I usually see them early and keep the light on them. I squeak, and they hang around until they get tired(I guess), then they go land in a nearby tree. I've never had a hawk do it though, they are daytime hunters.

Most every hunt. That's when you know you're calling well. I tell newbies going with me to bring a change of underwear.
