Pacnor

I'm not really sure why I've not tried PN for an install. I've read lots of good stuff about their work.
As for barrels, I've got 3 and have shot 2 of them so far.....very happy with them !

I had a SS Super Match 3 groove in 6x45mm installed on my Rem 600. They did a very nice job, one of the most accurated rifles I have.

They also made a one-off 25-204 barrel for a savage for me when I was doing the 204 Ruger wildcats, 22-204, 6mm-204 and 25-204. They were great people to work with.

I had Pac-Nor install a 26" stainless super match barrel on a Remington SPS. They trued the action and put a Sako style extractor in it for me. It is chambered in 270 WSM and will toss a 140gr accubond 3300+ fps. Accuracy is about 3/4 moa with absolutely no load work, I'm still shooting the loads I used in the factory barrel. Once these are gone, I will tinker with it some to try get it shooting a little tighter. You can see it my icon picture. I would use them again, I think I would like the 3 groove on my next one.

I had PacNor rebarrel a m700 for me a couple years ago. They did very nice work, and the guns shoots very well. It'll put most loads under 1/2" as long as I do my part. I wouldn't hesitate to have them do another one for me!!

I've got a Nosler M48 Sporter in .338 Federal with a PacNor barrel. It's a shooter, they make nice barrels. I have a Model 70 in .308 I was thinking of sending to PacNor for a rebarrel, but I wasn't sure if I should just buy the barrel and have a reputable smith do the rest. Sounds like these guys have had good luck with thier services too. Here's my Pacnor after some action last winter.

Their barrels are first rate. I own a borescope and spend alot of time looking at the insides of alot of barrels. I have to say that consistently Pac-Nor barrels show zero flaws and no tooling marks. I have had very good luck with them as far as accuracy goes and would just as easily take a Pac-Nor barrel over any brand made. The customer service for me has been excellent with zero complaints. I build/barrel about ten or twelve rifles a year. I believe you would hear alot more about Pac-Nor but they are button rifled barrels, not cut and these days many shooters believe they need cut rifling.

This is not a complaint at all because the rifle shot so good, but I did order a polygonal rifled barrel once and it didn't appear to be true polygonal rifling...it looked more like a 6R to me. Again, it shot perfectly.

I've been thinking of a 338F for a close range bear gun. How do you like the Fed ?

Thanks for the compliment! I love the .338 Federal, I use it for 400 and under with 185 gr Barnes TSX bullets. 200 yd zero, drops just under 27" at 400. It kicks similar to 30-06. I am impressed with the round. I've only shot two deer and two coyotes with that rifle, but they all dropped right there! I know Barnes makes up to a 285gr bullet for it.

Here is the ugly side of the .338 Fed 185 TSX on a coyote at a little over 200. Everything I have shot so far with it pretty much looked like this.

One of the most accurate and least finicky rifle barrels I have bought is a Pacnor. It started as a 17 Rem on a Savage action, but became a 17 Mach IV on a CZ several years back. I'm very happy with it.

I like their barrels but, I have a very good local gunsmith which I prefer for the instal over them.
