Patch-out and Accelerator

Anyone use Patch-out and their Accelerator? From what I have read it seems like a nylon brush is a good way to put some pitchout and accelerator on and stroke it n the barrel, and let it sit. You can use patches, but not tight patches, hence the brush. Then a patch after a bit to see what's the color of the patch.

I'm an old bore cleaner, bronze brush method guy, but willing to give this a try. Just don't know if I have any nylon brushes.

I don't have anything against a bronze brush, it's not going to hurt anything. My main concern is getting continuous false readings because of the bronze. I always use a nylon brush now before just patching out.

Iosso and Montana Extreme plastic brushes are the best. The large bristles do not clean in the corners as well as the Brownell's or Pro Shot bronze bristle brushes.

Realize that the Patch Out works very well on copper, not so good on carbon, so the brushes are needed.

JB, JB Borebright(Red), Iosso, and Flitz are excellent at removing carbon on patches, and in extreme cases, brushes.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think a bronze brush harms anything either. I was looking at the different type of chemical action against fouling. I've used gallons of Butch's, and have made my own concoction using GM Top Engine cleaner and 28% ammonia. They both do a decent job, but I still get some blue streaks on the patch. I ordered some of the Patchout and accelerator, looking forward to it.

Dry patch, give it a light coat of oil if going to store it.

Your cleaning bench looks alot like mine. Several varieties of cleaning solvents. Seems we have to try them all. At least those that like a clean rifle.

Thanks! I will have to give it a try...

The only product I've found that works on both copper and carbon. One disclaimer; I clean after every session, but nowadays, my sessions are only somewhere between 1 to 30 rounds. Works for me, I'm sure it will take more than 6-8 strokes and probably more than one application on barrels that have hundreds of rounds through the tube since cleaning.

Reading recommendations here a while back....i also bought wipe out tactical advantage. Of course i dont have a bore scope....but i like it a lot so far.

Went to the range today and gave this stuff a try. And I did have a nylon brush of the right size! It sure does get crap out of the barrel by the color of the patches. I was working on loads so only shooting 10-12 times between cleaning. There was a tint of blue to the patches at first, but it seemed the patches were coming out more blackish toward the end. Haven't had a chance to bore scope it yet, but all I can say there is more crud on the patches than I used to get, that's a good thing.
