I have been looking through the different post and found nothing about these lines headlamp. I have been looking through the ton of headlamp questions and have not found much. I have one of these petzl LED headlamps and use it for walking back and forth to the stand while hunting deer and is quite bright. It can be flipped over to a red lense. I am told a certain amount of candlelight power was required for hunting at night but cannot find the specs on this headlamp. Was wondering if any of you guys use this headlamp at night?

I have about 6 headlamps that I use for hunting and 24 hr orienteering racing. There is no minimun candlepower needed to hunt at night that I know of, only the practical application. I have looked at the specs for the Tikka plus and it is similar to one of the lights I use. As a walk in and barrel illuminating light you have have made a wise choice. You can even pick up eyes at about 150 yds with your light(even in the red mode). What lights like ours do NOT do well is to give positive identification. They just lack the horsepower of a true night hunting light like the Optronics or Nightforce( I have both). Here is a GREAT web site for comparing headlamps. I have a Tikka, love it for getting into a stand at night. I just need enough light to see where I'm walking and getting equipment out of the truck.

Love that flip down red lense..........

Why don't you give it a honest try. My guess is you will feel it is not enough light right up until the moment you see a pair of eyes comming in. I had a light last year that I know was not as bright as my partners but I always saw the eyes when I needed to and killed my share of the fox. I actually liked the light but returned it because it was $150 and I got a optronics for 40 bucks.
