Here's a link to a news article about southern Michigan's thumb area wolverine. They say its the first confirmed sighting in more than 200 years. Some say it came from Canada on a garbage truck , but who knows... maybe they have been in hiding with the cougars that the DNR say no longer live in MI??????

MI wolverine

I saw one near Basalt Mtn. Co. in 1993, the guide said I saw a pine martin, showed him the tracks, he changed it to a bear cub . I shut up, then at the DOW in Glenwood Springs I saw a poster asking about sightings, showed him on my topo map where I'd been,he pulled out a bigger map full of pushpins in that very area. The "Guide" was gone, but at least it proved something to my companions. Very impressive animal.
