I Have a stevens moddel 200 22-250 I would like to trick out... My plan is and I dont even know if it is possible so please tell me if it is not... I would like to get a bull barrel 26 inch with twisted flutting Ross thumb hole stock or a mcmillian stock havent decided and a timney trigger and top it off with my vortex 6-24X50 scope!

a few questions I have intrest me but not sure if I want to is what could I do to make this a 22-250 AI? and would there be a big diff in the 22-250 and the 22-250 AI?

Rebarreling would not be difficult, nor would re-cutting the chamber to AI. A new stock is easy too. As is the Timney Trigger.

Of course I have been lambasted here before for suggesting that adding $1000 in modifications to a $250 rifle that generally shoots great as is, is like polishing a turd.

Well, from one turd polisher to another, there are alot of us out there. Alot of people buy the Stevens just for the action. Me for one. I plan to shoot the crap out of mine and when the barrel is shot out, start a custom build. Look at all the 10/22 Rugers that started out as turds. Man, if it trips your trigger, go for it. Its only $$$$$ JMO

Go for it! If it shoots good no one will care what it is or how much you got in it. My Turd is a Stevens 200 in 25-06. Had the action beded and trigger work done. Painted the stock and put an old Redfield 3-9x40 on it. Have very little cash in it and it will flat out shoot. Just might hurt some feelings when my "turd" shoots as good or better than a lot of much higher priced rifles. It's not a paper puncher, just a very good hunting rifle that I don't have to worry about scratching or dings when I'm out in the field.

Go for it, Son! You never know- that turd you are polishing may have a diamond in it!

It took me years to have anything close to a custom gun. If you got a good action, and you do, then a trigger and barrel is a fine way to go. A custom stock and coolo caliber (22-250 AI is for sure a coolo caliber) and top it off with good glass and you ready for some fun. Big time.

Hey- you anywhere near Gem county? I would like to see how that outfit shoots once you get done with it!
