Polymer lowers?

I may have a chance to buy a PlumCrazy branded polymer lower that is in brand new condition....any of you guy's use these or know of anything to stay away from with this kind of lower?

I have one with no issues. It's a New Fronteir Armory.

The problem with a Plum Crazy is there is no longer any support for them. The company seemed to disappear overnight.

I have a Plum Crazy lower. The only issue I had with it is that the trigger sucked. I replaced it with a RR National Match, and no issues since.

You would be Plum Crazy to spend good money on a plastic receiver. Why take a chance when so many outstanding forged aluminum lowers are out there.

I've had a PC for a couple of years...No problems so far...I initially thought about replacing the trigger group, but I've found that after a couple of hundred pulls, the trigger smooths out to a very nice consistent break...Makes for a nice light weight rifle..

My initial goal was to put together a very inexpensive "truck rifle" that was reasonably accurate...Total cost involved was $524 (including optic) and it's surprised my by turning out some consistent less than 1" ten shot groups at 100 yards...

This is wisdom. If you are interested in a plastic lower I would stick with NFA so if you do have a warranty issue there is a company to warrant it. On another note metal lower are back to normal price. PSA has $99 lowers in stock.

I wonder what caused this. I understand they are not as good of quality but that still would have taken alot of force

I've had one for over a year now with no troubles at all. I kept the trigger in it also. If the price is good on the plum crazy, I see no reason not to buy it.

I bet someone tried to mortar the gun, or do a tactical entry into his house trailer to scare off his wifes boyfriend. LOL. Or a long list of other things. I would own a poly lower, but the price would have to be right. Built a gun fir my buddy with a NFA lower. Swapped the take down pins and no problems so far.

I bet someone tried to shoot 5.56 out of their 223....

I think you might have got that backwards brother

I have a Plum Crazy with a DPMS pencil barrel upper on it. Make a nice carry AR. I did put a Rock River Match Trigger in it. It is a shooter not a club! Works great with my night vision scope.

I bought one of the first p.c.'s and after 3000+ rds it's still going strong. Of course i only use it for hunting/shooting, not for a bumber jack and not for breaking down doors.

I also have three new frontier lowers and they all work very well too, two of them are under 6.8's. If the price is right i would do it.

The price on this one will be VERY right....I was considering getting it and putting a light weight upper together for my son to hunt with and give him something he could carry around with me all day and not be too heavy for him.
At least that is what I have kicking around anyways.

That seems like a good explanation.

The simple answer for me was:

Because I could (and did) buy a COMPLETE, ready to use PC lower, for UNDER a 100 bucks.

In fact I bought and put together numerous rifles using PC lowers. When PC went under and NF started making them, I put together more, more, more rifles using NF poly lowers.

After many years, my PC lower rifle is still operating just fine. Nobody that got a poly lower rifle from me has ever mentioned a problem with theirs.

Now, with the price New Frontier lowers have risen to, if I was putting one together, I think I would seriously think about using an aluminum lower. The poly lowers are not the great bargain they once were.

I have three (3) PC complete lowers and all were under $100. The .223 has several thousand rounds thru it with no issues. Well I take that back. When I first received it I pulled the front take down pin out too fast and the detent and spring went flying. I called PC and they mailed me 2 replacements (no charge). The 6.8 has several hundred rounds with no issues. The .300 Blackout approximately 120 rounds no issues. The only reason the Blackout isn't shot more is the ammo is extremely hard to find. Most of the folks that bash the polymer lowers don't even own one and have no personal experience. They just search the internet, find a pic, and complain.

If you want a light weight, easy to maintain, carry ar they are hard to beat for the price.

And yes I do have several aluminum lowers.

Good luck on your decisions.
