Pop up Blinds

Anybody using one of these pop up blinds for deer or coyotes? I bought one yesterday from Walmart. Got out to the farm and found that it was way too big to carry in with all the reat of me gear. I would have to have a 4 wheeler. Do they need to be setup weeks in advance so the deer get used to them? Gun season will be coming in in Ohio in as couple weeks. Might use it over there. Might take it back and get a good climbing stand.

I just got one from cabelas...called the outhouse and its 68"x68"x78" and its 8lbs...it comes with a back pack to carry it in and it was on sale for 49.99 ....I set it up and it looks great..takes 5 seconds to set and 10 seconds to take it down...havent tried it yet..will use it for predator hunting.....A friend of mine use his for deer and turkey hunting and he says it works great.........stump /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have the ameristep doghouse pop up blind and
it works well for deer and turkey. Deer are a
bit cautious around it but that won't matter with
a gun, I used it for archery and a few came in
range. It's light and easy to put up but it's a
bit tricky to take down.

Been looking at a couple of these for awhile. My concern is, if they have an attached bottom, will it cause the whole thing to move around when you shift positions inside?

I had thought of getting a lay out blind for goose hunting and then using it for coyotes, when I'm out in the flat open areas. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif www.averyoutdoors.com/migrator_blind.html It would have a low profile and only the top of your head would stick out for viewing purposes.

Back home, that would be fine. Down here, I'm not sure I like that. Too many creepy crawlers, that want to bite you here.

Has anyone figured out how to get a good solid shooting rest to work in one of these ground blinds yet? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Regarding a rest, I'd recommend some sort of shooting sticks. Make them as high as you need to accomodate the opening in the blind.

I bought a doghouse this year and mainly plan to use it for deer season if it's raining. Might try it for bow next year.

Bowhunter, I have a final approach x- lander that I use for goosehunting that I had been thinking could be used for coyote hunting also. The x lander folds into a backpack and also has a built in gun scabbard. And an enclosed area under the backrest you can carry some extra items.

Hi, We use camo nets and shooting sticks. We make the shooting sticks with fiberglass electric fence posts 3/8x48" @ $1.29 each. You can also get them in 1/2". We cut ours to 42" and they are very versatile for several heights in our group and work for almost any shooting situation.

I bought one of those Outhouse blinds for when my wife, Coyote Kate, goes camping w/ me. I never used it, but she says it works great. We have a white 5gal bucket inside. The lid is optional. Ha, ha, ha, ha. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
