Possible Issues with AGM Rattler TS35-640

I just bought one of these and got it in last week. I notice that when I first turn it on, things are really detailed but then once the display comes up with the battery/time, the picture quality changes to a blurred/smeared image.

I do know how to adjust focus with the front element so it’s not that. For example, I can turn it on, and look at a fence 100 yards away and see all the details of it. Then after a few seconds it just blurs those details out. Same with a tree at 40-50 yards. I can see the bark detail when first turned on but then a few seconds later that’s gone.

If anyone else has one of these do you guys see this as well? It’s almost like it goes from a detail 640 resolution image to a 384 or something. Kinda disappointed it’s doing this

Checker,

I know nothing about AGM thermals, but make sure the scope is NUCing. If it is not, either manually NUC the scope, or make sure it is set to AutoNUC in the settings.

If this doesn't fix it, I would contact the dealer you bought it from. This is one of many reasons to buy from a quality dealer as they should be able to help you out with things like this.

It is NUCing automatically. This is happening right on power up

Where did he mention this at? I’m not too happy about this. It’s really detailed on start up and then just switches

The late night vision show, best of scopes under 5,000. 2 episodes back. He actually said the background was washed. My mistake. This wasn’t said, Good luck.

It’s not really washed. It’s almost like the resolution changes. Animals are fairly sharp too but it’s just details in the scene. I’m going to call AGM Monday. Maybe they can help out. If not it may be going back to the dealer.

If there is a problem with the scope, they will replace it with a new one and issue a new warranty. Contact them (AGM) and ask to speak to Todd.

I have one and I hate it because of all the focus issues. Same thing with mine. I spent so much money and it sucks.

I have one, works fine. Does it NUC? Did you focus the display? Also make sure it is at 'operating' temp. It should NUC several times when first used in the field, getting the sensor to ambient temp.

Do not hesitate to contact AGM. They are VERY receptive and timely in their response. I had an issue with my Spectrum 4k LRF aiming window and they got back to me almost immediately.

I’m having the same problem. It turns into a grainy mess. Did anyone follow up with what the actual problem is?
I have two and spent $4,000 a piece on them and they both are doing it. These are about two years old and have been doing it on and off. Sent them back twice I’m about tired of it.

Per AGM, Hope this helps

The issue you're describing with the thermal could be related to the Flat Field Correction (FFC). It is likely that the FFC is set to "Manual", but it may simply just be in need of a computer reboot. Rebooting the device may help recalibrate the FFC and resolve the display issue. Here's how to proceed:

  1. Navigate to the main menu of your device.
  2. Select General Settings.
  3. Choose Reboot (or "Restore" if your firmware version does not offer a "reboot" option) and confirm by selecting OK.
Once the scope reboots, allow it to complete the FFC process. While this will not delete any of your digital media or coordinate settings, it will close everything. You will re-open your reticle from the main menu.

If the issue persists after trying this please let me know, and we can explore further troubleshooting steps

Make sure the firmware is up to date as well. My son had an old 256 laying around at his work place and was having some clarity issues, he started playing around with the settings and did a firmware update and cleared everything up.
