Post pics of your truck mounted Killing Chairs

Had to take a slightly different approach since my truck has a tonneau cover, so used receiver hitch to attach my chair.

Texas allows spotlights/night hunting so mounted the light just below rifle rest:

Chair is best at night, but can also be used in daylight by draping camo cover over back of truck. This frame shows the turnbuckles & chains added to lessen chair movement from side to side:

Better Angle showing anti-sway chains. Chair also serves as base for boom to drag bigger critters out of the brush and lift them with electric winch mounted in front end of truck bed:

hm,
Nice set up. I'm getting ready to put together a rack for the back of my truck, I'm also needing input. If anyone ever chimes in, I need to know how high out of the bed it should be.

How high really just depends on what you want. You obviously want to be able to clearly shoot in all directions from the truck. The set up in the pictures above would make that difficult, but it's still a good set up for what he has to work with.
I've hunted from ones that were 4 foot or more above the cab of the truck to the bottom of the platform the chairs are mounted to. It worked well, just a top heavy SOB, especially when your talking about a two seater platform w/ room in the middle for the light man to stand. It can get real challenging to load & unload. For me about 1-2 feet above the cab to the platform would be fine.
As a side note I bought metal to build a stand & asked this guy that works for my dad if I could borrow his chop saw, told him what I was doing. He said, you want one already built? Turns out he used to hunt coyotes pretty heavy but hasn't done anything in the last 10 years or so. Got a two seater with shooting rails, whole nine yards. He said I could just have it. Going to go pick it up tonight. Not real sure of the condition but figure the metal is fine & I can modify what I want. I'll take some pictures of it & get it posted tonight or tomorrow.

Yep, you can shoot over the cab at anything 30-40 yards out, nothing closer and I am very particular about who rides in the seat. The chair is mounted on 1 1/2" pipe and telescopes into 2"; original intent was to be able to raise the chair at each stand. Found that there is a very slight spring to my receiver hitch and the added height resulted in slight movement of the gun rest when extended, so we never elevate the chair.

Another problem with the chair mounted so far behind the cab, it is easier to light up the cab w/spotlight at night if you're not careful. Limits the night radius to about 270 degrees, maybe a bit less.

I have to travel a 5 mile caliche county road with very heavy oilfield truck traffic resulting in an extremely dusty trip to the ranch. Even the tonneau cover lets some fine dust into the bed; can't imagine w/o the cover, so have to live with this compromise.

I will try to get some pics of our racks. We set them up where the floor of the rack is about 1' over the bed sides. That puts the overall heigth of the shooting rails about 2 1/2-3' over the cab, depending on your chair heigth. This allows us to get under most overhanging trees and still be tall enough to shoot in all directions around the truck.

Well I went out to get that stand last night.. didn't have a key that worked for the gate. Walked in, found the stand & I'll get it, just didn't get it last night. After 10 + years of sitting, there has been some junk piled around it to say the least. So, it will probably be weekend after this before I have time to get it. It needs a little fixing here & there, replace the seats, etc. but overall it could be hunted out of as soon an you put it in the truck. and the best thing about it.. IT'S FREE! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
Here is a link to some guys in south TX. younger-bros This is pretty much the same set up of the stand I'm talking about here. May also give you guys some ideas.

Here is a picture of one rig we use. Two seater with padded shooting rails all the way around. The light man usually stands in the middle, but can move around according to need.

Here is a picture of my newest stand. This is the one an older friend gave to me that he hadn't used in the last 10 or 12 years. I made a few modifications to the shooting rail & added the box on front to put the spot light in between stands.

Where you at N-Georgia? I'm in Eastanollee near Toccoa in northeast GA. You can tell all these chairs are from Texas, where it's good and flat. I had to put turn buckles on mine to level it. I got some fiberglass sticks with reflector tape from Home Depot. I go during the day and find the best spots and mark the exact location then adjust the chair. Come back at nite to my markers. Here's some pic's.

Sence the pic's were made I put a battery holder on the horizontal part of the light mast and a counter weight to make it easy to lay it down and stand it up.

I have some pics of my truck mounted killing chair but new to website and not sure how to put them on here so if someone could help I will post some pics.

Ok after reading on the site I found out how to put pics. These are some pics of the killing chair me and my buddy built in welding shop class. It has two shooter chairs and one optional spotlight chair(middle Chair). The shooter chairs are 4 foot off the cab and the optional spotlight chair is 6 1/2 foot off the cab. So far it has proved to work excellent!
