There are supposed to be PD's in the Lawton area, so I've been told.
I'd check with the Chamber of Commerce, and the county ag office to get started, asking them for info referrals if they can't help you directly.
There's a game reserve / wildlife mgmt. area out west of Lawton that has plenty of PD's, but you're not allowed to shoot them there. So conditions in the Lawton area will definitely support PD's.
If you have any .mil connections, I think there may be a gun club on Ft. Sill that's open to the public. They might know some huntable places with PD's. There's a lot of shooters / hunters stationed there at Ft. Sill, so I'd try to get in with that crowd (via telephone, or whatever it takes) for public hunting info.
Pretty sure there are a few gun clubs in the general Lawton area (maybe Duncan), I'd try and check with all of them I could find.
If you can find any decent action in the Lawton area that would be my choice, as it's going to be much closer than the closest action in the panhandle. You're looking at at least 5 hours from OKC to start getting into PD country heading towards the panhandle. Lawton is under 1.5 hours from OKC.
Sorry I can't be more specific, nor more helpful. I've been to Lawton many times, but never to PD hunt in that area.
If you decide to pursue checking into, and hunting the Lawton area, would you post back on your general findings. I'm not asking for directions to your "sweet spot" should you find one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif More interested in finding out if there are enough PD's in the area to make a trip worthwhile.
Hangtime.
