Predator Calling Corn Fields?

I plan to do this for at least 1 stand tomorrow. A land owner says he sees them coming out of the corn regularly....so I will try calling them tomorrow. I normally focus on calling timber, but corn fields?

I am new at this so I know nothing....

I've had fantastic success calling standing corn fields! It helps if the is a pretty good open area next to the field, so they are in the open for a while, on their way to the call. Like a cut hay field or the corn field partially harvested. My first one of the year, last year was called out of standing corn.

Some states it works good. Kansas and Missouri its pretty tough. Its worth trying, but I rarely call a coyote out in a crop field. My guess, and its only a guess, is there is usually a creek around the edge of the crop fields and they dont like the mosquitos and there is usually not as much food. In Kansas and Missouri there are plenty of other places to stay that are better suited. I still try on occasion, but if I have anywhere else to go I go there.

Call everywhere you have an opportunity to. Where there is a food source there will be coyotes ! Don't be afraid to call it at different times, they just might not be there right when you are at that time.

We love calling freshly cut fields. I can't tell you the number of coyotes that we have seen mousing freshly cut fields. A little rodent squeaking over a freshly cut fields is a recipe for success.

This year at the PM convention in Elko, the calling was a bit tough. After trying the wild country, we ended up going right back down and working the edges of the fields. We ended up calling in 7 right off of fields. Never rule out the edges of fields and the transitional areas around them. They can and will pay off.

I call as the combines run, I wait until the standing corn that is left is less than 300 yards wide. Cross winds are best, setup on the end away from roads. I use distress rabbit, when the combine is unloading on opposite end. The combines move the rabbits around and coyote take advantage of the commotion. The combine operators will often let me ride a round or two, I have seen the coyote work next to the combine. I will have them drop me on the downwind far corner. Just be sure of your field of fire.

Yes, definitely worth trying. I called in a double out of a corn field, 200 yds behind my house. It was hilarious watching the pheasants fly out of the corn as the coyotes came in.

I tried calling the corn last weekend...major blank. Nothing......

it's OK..harvest is coming....they said "HEY..come out"...when they were baling hay. I killed a coyote that day... I think they'll invite me to visit when they harvest the beans too. I hope so!!

they have animals too....and no love for the coyote.
