Preserving Wings.

I am piddling around with trying to preserve bird wings. I have a couple of dove wings that I have pinned down to a board (to keep the wing open) and have the part that was cut from the bird covered in salt. Covered good. Is that going to be good enough to preserve or is there more to it than that? And if that is enough, How long should I keep the wing on salt? How will I know it is done?

what do you plan on doing with these wings. if you are going to us them for dog training you need to be carefull of what you use as the dog will be chewing on them, or at least have them in their mouth. if you just want them to collect or display i would get rid of the salt immediately. on the back side or underside of the wing cut along the bone and get as much READS ALL of the meat out and rub with 20mule team borax. pin open and let dry. i would just remove the meat and let dry if useing for dog training. hope that helps
