Priming tool options

I am just wondering what you guys are using. I am currently using the RCBS hand tool, (older one). It works ok, most of the time. But I am always open to option and opinions. I do have a Lyman press that came with the primer tube setup. Is this a better option? Ive just always used the RCBS hand tool. Thanks in advance for any comments!

I have a couple of Lee's that sit on the shelf now. I bought an RCBS with the universal shell hoder and love it..

I don't mind the swapping of shell holders, too much. But I would like to have the square primer tray because I use federal primers alot. That packaging is a pita withe the octagonal tray.

Would the square tray fit in the older style? Where could I get one? Maybe a call to RCBS on Tuesday.

I use a lee hand primer on my rifle loads, and I use the dillon press for my pistol rounds. I hate the packaging of the federal primers as well.

I use this...

with the cheapest O frame press Lee makes. Makes using their hand primer ( which I also have) slow as anything.

Use that primer for 100 primers and you'll toss the hand primers away.

I use this RCBS bench priming tool (had it for 30 years now).

RCBS priming tool

Takes up some bench space and requires a shell holder (unless you want to swap them back and forth with your press), but the feel is really good.

Sure got spendy over the years, though.

Maybe look for a used one, they're pretty much unbreakable.

I've used them all (with exception of the high $$$ sinclair ones) & it's hard to beat the old lee hand primer with a few "modifications" to it. I find it hard to believe that any other way would be quicker. After a little time of learning & a few tips, I can prime them as fast as I can pick them up.

PM me for specific mods & tips.

Also if the primer packaging doesn't fit. Just hold the tray in your lap & open the primers by sliding them out letting it fall in the tray (just dump em in a row @ a time). Takes only seconds to shake them upright. Put the lid on & you've got 100 primed in less than 4-5 minutes if that.

That's how I get around the large packaging.

Pm sent.

+1 for Evil Thoughts.. I used the lee's for year's until the cam part of them woreout and didnt seat the primer's deep enough, Bought this one a couple years ago and it is just as fast as the Lee's and alot more durable over the long haul... got mine mounted on a plate and I can move it were ever I want to use it also..

I had the RCBS bench system, great outfit, have the rcbs hand unit...not as good as the others IMO.
I use the LEE hand primer loader and spit them out like crazy & the others never get used or have sold them.

I have tried the RCBS but so far the Lee is the best I have used I have three one for Large and Small and one for 6.8 cases.

I don't load a ton either. But sometimes the RCBS is a pita. Especially with my 44 load. I don't know why, but it likes to double feed primers. Also, the lid on the primer tray has worn out and likes to pop off inadvertently. I just tape it down now. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and comments.
