Priming with the Forster Coax Press on .204 cases

Has anyone had luck using the on board primer with .204 cases? I have some that seem fine but,with others the case seems to want to cock to one side or the other when trying to push the primer in. I've noticed since there are only three contact points to hold the rim that pushing to hard can bend and ruin the rims. I set each of the three rim holders to where they are as close to the case body as possible without, touching the case. I started trying to use it and since it was very inconsistent stopped and started using my RCBS Hand Primer again. Thanks for all advice!

I haven't had any luck with any of the press mounted priming tools.. I have been using a Lee primer tool for years. Last year I broke one of mine and replaced it with the RCBS universal model.. IMO the hand auto-prime tools are much better..
 
I use mine on both my .204s and .223s with no problem...The adjustment of the slide in pads is critical for smooth operation...

I place the brass in position, lift the priming stud into the primer pocket and while holding the case in place against the pressure, tighten down the machine bolts that hold the plates in place...It can be helpful if you have a second pair of hands, but with a little practice, I have mastered it pretty well..

I switch back and forth between those two case sizes and my .308s, but usually don't run a lot of the .308s on a frequent basis...
 
I have used my Forster to prime 6mmDTi cases and it works just fine. It worked so well that I still have not got my Lee hand primer rigged to use on them.
 
I'll take the RCBS Universal over the other hand priming tools. It's really handy to have two of them with one set for large primers and and the other for small primers. The priming station on the Forster is a bit weak on an otherwise great press.

Jack I use a Dillion press for my .204 reloading. I never noticed too much "leverage" and I have used the Lee hand primer also. You need to know what your doing and have a "feel" for everything as you do it and you should be just fine. As far as the op's question sorry I have no answer for I have never used that press.
 
There is no "feel" required when using the Forster press for priming. The stop is mechanical and perfectly consistent.

I use RCBS priming tool on the high-volume rounds I load, i.e. .22 centerfires. I use it to start the primers on '06- and .308-based cases then complete seating on the Forster press. I have had exactly one case pop the rim.
