Product review fanny pack / harness

Tried a backpack and all it did was lead to carrying to much "stuff". I was in Gander Mountain last night looking for maybe a turkey vest to use for coyote hunting. most of my hunting is on small to medium sized parcels in south central TN so a lot of distance is usually not an issue nor is a need for water.

I found this fanny pack with a harness. I had looked at fanny packs but didn't like the way they ride and can slide. Then I spotted this one with a harness. For $19.00 I'll try it even though I thought is may be a bit small as far as carry capacity.

the photo below shows what I was able to put in it and even then I have a little more room for some small stuff. I was surprised I could put the Foxpro Fury and the controller in it. The Fury took up the bulk of the room. If you hung the controller and mouth calls around your neck that would give you even more capacity if you so desired.

The only negative I found so far was that it could use a chest strap and I will probably sew a button for the rifle sling on the shoulder straps once I get the final adjustments made.

Tried it out this afternoon and works great.

Hope this helps some of you.

Have you ever considered using a sling pack (one shoulder strap that crosses the chest). They are becoming allot more popular for hunting. Backpacks are the most versatile, but as you mentioned, they are usually just to big, and they make crawling through the brush difficult as they tend to hang up when your ducking under things. Fanny packs are also nice, but it is hard to find one that rides properly and doesn't sag or dig into the body. The main reason i like sling packs is that they will ride on your back like a normal back pack, but you can slide the pack into the front of you whit out taking it off, which allows you to duck under an obstacle with out the hang ups, and most importantly it allows you to access all the compartments of the pack with out having to take it off. There are quite a few brands and sizes of these packs out there. But for the amount of stuff you are carrying, you might want to look at one carried by LL Bean (its camo, and says its waterproof).

Just a thought.

Yeah, I looked at the sling pack and it does look convenient but I was afraid it would move around to much. when I took this one out yesterday it worked just fine but like Slowdraw says you have to take it off to get into it. I figured out I could leave it at spots where I will be coming back through the same trail I went in with and carry only the minimum to the stand.

This pack worked well, did not give me sore shoulders and rode well. And was able to sling the rifle over one shoulder without it getting in the way of each other.

Looks good. Do you know what the name and model number of this pack is? i looked on Gander's website and could not find it.

Any help would be appreciated..

Thank you,

I checked last night and it is not on the website. may be an in store only thing. There are a couple of other brands out there. search on harness fanny pack. Primos has one with a better harness but less pockets.

I'll check wednesday night on scu number and model.

Ill tell ya its the best rig i have ever used , I really like the fact you can get in and out of a truck without taking them off , foxpro will fit in one side bag( so you dont have to carry it) with a ton of room for extra stuff. I can carry everything i need for a day of calling with this set . When i find sompthing that works as well as these bags i like to share it .The inner bags are great for extra ammo ,clips,Batteries, car keys , knife, hunting lic,etc . lots of room and very comfortable to wear . I have been useing these for several years now and they show no wear and i have not ever lost anything that was put into them . Great set of bags . Jerry .

i got the Yoters den callers caddy and never looked back. i dont hunt far from the quad but for keeping all my hand calls, the FX remote and one of Rainshadows lanyard skinners it is friggin fantastic.
