Protection from fleas

I,m not sure if this is the best topic to post this question on but what the heck, here goes.
I always take my dog with me when I go calling. I have been a little concerned with fleas getting to my dog when she is in the back of the truck with this flea bitten fur ball we call coyotes. I'm just not sure I put much faith in a flea caller. Becouse my dog is a house dog, if she were to bring fleas in the house I'm pretty sure my wife would have us both being outside dogs. Any suggestions on this one? Getting rid of my dog is not an option.

I have a bordercollie, and i work in the woods year round. I use a product called Control you can buy at Walmart or elsewhere. Never had a tick for sure and no fleas that i know of. She is also an inside dog.

TAZ MAN, we give our dogs a product from the Vet called Revolution from Pfizer. It is for fleas, ticks and heartworm. You must have the dog tested for heart worms prior to using revolution. It is a topical liquid given once a month. It is dosed for animal size/weight.

We have never had any problems with ticks or fleas since we bagan using it a couple of years ago.
Our dogs stay in all night flealess.

Taz Man--you may want to buy some of those heavy duty 45 gallon 2 mil trash bags, place the coyote in the bag, spray something like Black Flag Flying Insect Killer in the bag with the coyote and then tie the end shut. Other than that, maybe you can let that dog ride in the cab with you /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Silverfox as usuall is right.
Get the large leaf plastic bags with the tie tops and some good flea powder. Put the dog in the bag sprinkle liberally with flea powder. When you open the bag hours later the fleas are dead. I used to take them to the car wash late at night when there was nobody around and give them a good washing also before I would start skinning them. That was before I was married. No more skinning coyotes at the house for me!!

Do you guys have a lot of fleas in Idaho? Around here the vets tell us not even to worry about our pets. We just don't have fleas. I guess it is too Arrid or something. Just curious.

Well... they sure have fleas in WY, agood one in WY is like a bad one in IA. I use the pour on stuff the other guys mentioned. All fleas are dead within 24hrs. I spray the things a couple times beforeI skin.KY

I buy a product called Black Mountain Flea and Tick spray..Great stuff!!! Keeps them off you and the dog..Very little smell if any. You can even spray it in your truck if need be...Also keeps chiggars off to_Only way to go! It is supost to have a pine smell but i realy can smell anything!

TAZ MAN: you mentioned you have a truck. does it have a square hitch receiver on it? if so, would it work to weld up or buy a "coyote box" that attached to the hitch receiver? that way you could carry your coyotes outside of the truck. ('course, if you are shooting 10 or 12 coyotes each day, you'd need a pretty good-sized box!)
