Well until i save the money to get a 204,22-250,or 223( can't decide just yet) i am stuck using my good old 30-06 as my varmit gun

normally i use 150 or 165 gr bullets to hunt with(deer/bear)
while searching on sportsmans guide tonight for something a bit smaller i come across the PSP accelerator ammo in 55gr for 30-06.....here's the link...
here

is this good??never heard of it before???

or would i be better off with the federal power shock...125 grains?

or just stick with the 165gr core lokt's (if your gonna make a mess might as well be a big one

note that this would just be a temporary stop gap until i can afford a better varmint caliber...and i don't care about fur damage ...although i might would mount a nice yote, cat,or fox if i did get them

I tried it in my .308 many years back and it wouldn't shoot any kind of decent group.
I'm talking shotgun-looking groups, 10 or 12 inches at 200 yards.

I'm sure it was coincidence, but I kept about 10 of them on the backer board, and not one was in the black. Like a donut group, all the way around with none up the middle.

Way better off, in my experience.

Those have been around for a long time, At one time false rumors were created stating they would be outlawed because rifling could not be traced with criminal use.
They were not real accurate and cost more. We used them on rockchucks with explosive results.
For coyotes it would be more accurate to use regular hunting loads and maybe less damage. certainly cheaper.

I would try the 125 grain Federal Power Shock, or Remington Managed Recoil rounds. I use the Remington's in my .270 Win, and it's like having another rifle. See which shoots best in your 30/06.

I tried those years ago in a 3006 and they weren't accurate at all, not saying maybe the newer ones are a better round but the old ones were awful in my Remington anyway.
