Have a new Thermion 2 LRF XP50 and it seems to be taking extraordinarily long to charge the internal battery. What are the times you have experienced and length of the times it lasts in the field.

My axion 2 XG35 has basically the same battery(4.9ah) and it can take over 6 hours to charge when "dead" and can use it to scan for almost 8 hours(thats with turning the screen off or turning off between further spots)

You might keep an eye on this...the new Thermion LRF's come now with a different 110V charging block and I know of two of them that the block went bad in a very short time...started out with them taking a longer than normal time to charge and then not charging at all. Go to Walmart or a computer store and buy a new 110V block that fits the charging cable. This solved the problem in both cases.

I’ve been surprised how long it takes to charge the batteries and it eats them up hunting. I went to an external battery and now their at 100% when I’m done.

The charging block they send with it does not have the regular USB port to insert the cable into but the smaller; whatever it is called, end that goes into the scope, so I've used ones we have at home. I don't understand this at all. The problem has been rendered academic as I went to check on charge level after 8 hours of charging (still not fully charged) and the scope won't turn off. Just counts down to one. Tried with it charging and not charging, also off charger and just with battery. Decided to try menu and nothing works. Only thing that it does is it turns on with the PIP in its initial setting of 4X.

So I got my scope mounted yesterday evening. I got it the end of November and has been in a safe in my house ever since. It only had the internal battery since it was new. It had lost a little charge. Got it on messed with it a little, made a mess of the zero. Came in last night read up on everything and used the cords and charger they recommended. Plugged in at 6:30 p.m. added the external battery at 9:30 p.m. Checked this morning at 7:30 a.m. external battery no charge, internal might be half. This is my first thermal so I don't know if this is normal or not. That is what I found. I think it has been updated because I have the normal, high and ultra settings inside the oct or pentagon shape.

Hey case check one thing. I noticed on my scope when it is plugged in it is showing what looks like the end of a cord with a plug. According to the manual this indicates external power source. I would interpret that as an external battery. In the manual it shows a lightning bolt inside the battery to indicate it is charging. I have seen this on cellphones and tablets. I wonder if something is not getting recognized properly keeping it from charging faster?

Kind of the same issue with an xg. I found after I plug in the charger to the scope if I push the charger plug gently forward the % shows above the battery icon, if I pull it back gently the lightning bolt appears in the icon. Just initially plugging in, it shows the ext power source icon.
It does charge the batteries no matter what icon in shown. I do have another problem and I think it is with the internal battery or its circuit. Hopefully it stays functioning until April then I am sending it in for repair.
Agreed with the need to send it in if it won't shut off.. can't operate like that.

I also run a battery pack (anker 6700) and sometimes it keeps the internal and removable charged and other times it does not--one of the issues I hope they will correct.

Am able to use it with the external batteries. Killed 3 at one spot 2 nights ago. 2 at 140ish and 3rd at 230ish. Dealer is going to take care of me when he gets more. He's been great as well as packaging extra's with scope when I bought it.

Case where did you buy yours?
Well I talked to my dealer this morning and he told me about a reset. I did that and it took it back to the original firmware. But my problem is my internal battery will not take a charge no matter what I do. So frustrating. First thermal, mounted it took two shots messing with zero and put it on charge to get all that dialed in. Nada on internal battery. But my dealer said he would take care of it for me. Im just ready to try out the night game.
