Pulsar Trail 2 xp50 lrf .......your experience?

They are great. No issues so far. 2 guys in our group are using them and just started the second season with them.

I probably like it better than the Thermion XG50 that I'm currently using.

New Trail xp50 lrf tracked well and I had it zeroed at 100 in two base power adjustments. I think this one has a much better image than the 1st one. I zeroed it last night at a 1" tinfoil square and shot 1 this morning at a handwarm folded in half. Poi this morning was within the 3 I shot last night. Temps were very similar though. I have noticed I never think the screens are level in the scopes and based on this I question if I tend to can't Ar's to the right on the bench despite always paying close attention both with hold and scope leveling. I have been using the inclinometer on the Yoter and it is a struggle to get it centered. My natural hold tend to me one notch to the right. I generally just shoot with the pip box and crosshair level with the world.

Hey Indyote,
I'm curious why you like the Trail 2 better than the Thermion XG50. Could you please elaborate?

A buddy just bought one and I was impressed. The 4x pip is plenty good for a 250 yd shot. To bad their so hard to get but it’s on my short list.

Loved my original XP50, then the XP50 LRF, and now the Trail 2. While they increased the base mag. from 1.6 to 2 they kept the same FOV by enlarging the view screen. Only thing I wonder about is I used the PIP on the other 2 at the highest mag. most of the time which was 12.8 which usually gave a pretty good picture at distances out to 300 which is the longest I took and made shots. With the newer one at 16X I'm curious to see if it will give me the same decent picture or whether it will be a little more degraded at the higher mag. I would think it would be the same as the ratio is the same but haven't had a chance to make any longer shots with it yet as have had it for only a short time now. I do miss one thing though. Now the auto record at the shot is gone. That was a nice feature for when a guy forgets to hit record or something jumps off quickly and you don't have the time. Other wise I find every feature about this scope extremely useful and have had a chance to look through every one made now except the N vision and the Trijicon's which are more money than I care to spend at this time and lack the features I want but the Pulsar has.

Thx case, I was debating the lower resolution XQ model for the higher base mag. You have any idea how much narrower the fov is?

Trail 2 XQ50 @ 3.5x magnification is 7.5 degrees or 39.3 feet at 100 yards.
Trail 2 XP50 @ 2x magnification FOV is 12.4 degrees and 65.4 feet at 100 yards

Hunting in Indiana, the 2x power is probably preferred over the 3x base on the Thermion (for us). We run PIP on everything, so it works out great to have an 8x or higher magician in the PIP window.

The LRF has definitely eliminated the guessing game on distances. If we didn't have the LRF's we would want to run a reticle that would help with ranging.

We also run Pulsar Helion scanners so being able to swap batteries between the scanners and the Trail models is really nice.

Unfortunately, I don't really see a clearer image in the XG compared to the XP's... like I was expecting. If it would've been a noticeable difference it would be a harder decision to make between the Trail 2 XP50 LRF's and the Thermion XG50. Hope that helps.

Sorry for the late response.....
